How To Maximise The Disney Quick Service Dining Plan

After three trips to Disney World, we have utilised the Disney Dining plan on all these occasions. There are three different options available on the Disney Dining plan, which you can read about in more depth here. In this post I am going to focus on the Disney World Quick Service Dining Plan and how to maximise your dining plan credits.

We have learned that having meal plans at Disney means we don’t have to worry about carrying extra money for food, or thinking about how much we’re spending on food and drink throughout our holiday.

What Is The Disney World Quick Service Dining Plan?

The Disney World Quick Service Dining plan consists of two quick service meal credits and two snack credits per day. You will also receive a refillable mug that can be used in all the Disney World resorts.

What consists of a quick service meal at Disney World?

A quick service meal credit at Disney World is made up of an entrée and a drink. As of 2018, the drink included in your meal can be alcoholic for those guests over 21 years of age.

Do You Need To Use Quick Service Dining Plan Credits Every Day?

Your Disney World Quick Service credits are loaded onto your Magic Band when you check in. They will then expire at midnight on the day you check out of the resort.

You don’t have to use two quick service meal credits and two snacks every day, or if you wish, you can use more each day.

Does The Disney World Quick Service Dining Plan Provide Enough Food?

On every single occasion we have stayed at Disney World, we always have dining plan credits left over on our last day. You may think on first glance that two quick service meals and two snacks per day wont supply you with your three meals a day, but in reality the plan provides more than enough food and drink for the duration of your stay.

Do You Need Reservations For Quick Service Meals At Disney?

The beauty of the Quick Service Dining Plan is that you don’t need reservation for the majority of the quick service locations around Walt Disney World. Two exceptions to this rule is if you wish to book Be Our Guest restaurant for breakfast or lunch in Magic Kingdom, and Pizzafari family style dining at dinner service in Animal Kingdom.

Be Our Guest restaurant particularly is very popular and I would recommend booking as early as 180 days in advance of your reservation date to secure a booking.

How Much Is The Quick Service Dining Plan?

The current cost for the Quick Service Dining plan is $52.99 per day for guests over 10 years of age, and $23.78 per day for guests aged 3-9 years.

How To Maximise Your Dining Plan Credits

As an adult guest, you need to aim to spend the daily value to maximise your dining plan credits. A good rule of thumb to aim for is to purchase snacks that are priced at around $6 each. A good example of this would be the Dole Whip float from Magic Kingdom, or an ice cream cookie sandwich from various locations.

You can also purchase any size drink from one of the many Starbucks locations for a snack credit which is a good purchase when you opt for the largest available.

When looking at quick service meals, you can approach value for money in one of two ways. You could order the most expensive entrée on the menu alongside the most expensive drink available. Or you could order the food you know you will like and enjoy it.

Personally I like to look at the menu and try to maximise the value of the plan when ordering. If however I really fancy one of the cheaper items on the menu, then I order that. I am on holiday after all.

Is The Quick Service Dining Plan Worth The Money?

We have only ever received the Quick Service dining plan when it’s been included free as part of our holiday package. Disney will often put out offers to include free dining plans in your holiday, and this is the time to book.

Currently the Quick Service dining plan is offered when staying in a moderate resort such as Caribbean Beach Resort, and your stay is for a minimum of five nights. There are often black out dates to look for, but if you arrive on the last day of the offer, you can receive the free dining for the duration of your holiday.

If you were paying for the Quick Service dining plan, I think you would struggle to break even on the cost, however if you prefer to have pre paid for your food and don’t want to worry about carrying money around with you then the Quick Service dining plan can be a great idea.

Can You Exchange Quick Service Dining Credits?

As a general rule of thumb you can swap one quick service credit for three snacks. This is only available if the quick service location or shop allows you to do this. You can’t use two quick service credits to trade up for a table service meal though as an example.

What Are Some Of Your Favourite Quick Service Locations?

We have eaten in some lovely quick service locations over the years and have plenty more ideas planned for future visits.

Some of my favourite quick service meals have been Be Our Guest breakfast, which despite the busyness of the castle in the morning, it was a great experience.

In Epcot, we particularly enjoy eating at Lotus Blossom Cafe in the China pavilion, and also at Liberty Inn in the American Pavilion.

Pecos Bills in Magic Kingdom is a great spot to eat just before the Festival of Fantasy parade starts for a great view of the parade.

We have always had the dining plan the next one up, but the quick service dining plan is great as you can go with the flow more. Great advice Angela, I bet you are on countdown now x

This sounds so convenient, I like the idea of a refillable cup too. Cost wise it makes sense, if you add up what you would spend each day on meals, drinks and snacks it works out as great value x
