Visiting Canada has been on my mind since I was a teenager. After spending my youth watching American wrestling on the TV, I discovered the amazing sights that Canada has to offer. Fast forward quite a few years, and Canada is still on my radar to visit one day.
Hubby loves ice hockey so he would also love to visit Canada. We have looked into visiting the country a few times over the last few years, but visiting Disney World seems to always take priority and Canada is pushed down the list.
I know I am going to spend a lot of time researching a trip before we go to make sure we experience everything we both want to. Whilst I have never been skiing, Hubby has and would love to ski whilst on holiday. We would definitely need to invest in some decent ski jackets before we went, and lots of lessons for me!
Visiting The Rockies
For me a big part of our Canadian adventure would be visiting the Rockies. It’s my dream to take the Rocky Mountaineer through the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, stopping to see some of the iconic sights that Canada has to offer.
Part of me thinks that Abby is at the wrong age to appreciate what Canada has to offer, if perhaps we are spending a lot of time travelling from one area to another. This is one of the reasons we keep putting the holiday off until the time is right.
Canadian Ice Hockey
I know Hubby would love to experience a hockey game in Canada. Our trip would most likely happen during the NHL season which runs between October and June. We really are going to have to go prepared for the colder weather and purchase suitable clothing if we’re travelling in the Winter months.
I can only appreciate the amazing views the lakes in the Rockies provide via photos at the moment until I am lucky enough to see them for myself. A huge bucket list tick would be to see Lake Louise in Alberta. The water looks so blue which is because of the silt like rock being carried into the lake. It reminds me a little like The Blue Pool in Dorset in regards to the colour.
There is so much on my Canadian wish list, I am not sure how long we would have to visit for to be able to see everything we wanted to. Banff National Park is one of the most iconic destinations to visit in Canada and I don’t want to miss out.
With Lake Louise in Banff National Park, this would help me achieve two of my dreams in one central location.
With one of the World’s largest shopping malls being in Edmonton, part of me would love to visit just to say I have. I’m not a huge shopper, but if I got the chance I wouldn’t say no. I’m not quite sure what I am expecting however.
I know we have a lot more planning and saving up to do to realise our dream of a holiday to Canada. I have no doubt we will achieve it in the future.
