How To Maximise The Disney Quick Service Dining Plan

After four trips to Disney World, we have utilised the Disney Dining plan on all these occasions. There are three different options available on the Disney Dining plan, which you can read about in more depth here. In this post I am going to focus on the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan and how to maximise your dining plan credits.

We have learned that having dining plans at Disney means we don’t have to worry about carrying extra money for food, or thinking about how much we’re spending on food and drink throughout our holiday.

What Is The Disney Quick Service Dining Plan?

The Disney Quick Service Dining plan consists of two quick service meal credits (also known as counter service meals), one non-alcoholic / alcoholic drink per meal and one snack or drink per person per night of your stay. You will also receive a refillable mug that can be used in all the Disney World resorts.

What Does A Quick Service Meal Include At Disney World?

A quick service meal credit at Disney World is made up of an entrée and a drink. As of 2023, the drink included in your meal can be an alcoholic beverage for those guests over 21 years of age.

Do You Need To Use Quick Service Dining Plan Credits Every Day?

Your Disney World Quick Service credits are loaded onto your Magic Band or resort ID when you check in. They will then expire at midnight on the day you check out of the resort.

You don’t have to use two quick service meal credits and a snack every day, or if you wish, you can use more each day.

Does The Disney World Quick Service Dining Plan Provide Enough Food?

On every single occasion we have stayed at Disney World, we always have dining plan credits left over on our last day. You may think on first glance that two quick service meals and a snack per day wont supply you with your three meals a day.

In reality the plan provides more than enough food and drink for the duration of your stay.

Do You Need Reservations For Quick Service Meals At Disney?

The beauty of the Quick Service Dining Plan is that you don’t need reservation for the majority of the quick service locations around Walt Disney World.

How To Maximise Your Dining Plan Credits

As an adult guest, you need to aim to spend the daily value to maximise your dining plan credits. A good rule of thumb to aim for is to purchase snacks that are priced at around $6 each.

A good example of this would be the Dole Whip float from Magic Kingdom, or an ice cream cookie sandwich from various locations.

When looking at quick service meals, you can approach value for money in one of two ways. You could order the most expensive entrée on the menu alongside the most expensive drink available. Or you could order the food you know you will like and enjoy it.

Personally I like to look at the menu and try to maximise the value of the plan when ordering. If however I really fancy one of the cheaper items on the menu, then I order that. I am on holiday after all.

Is The Quick Service Dining Plan Worth The Money?

We have only ever received the Quick Service dining plan when it’s been included free as part of our holiday package. Disney will sometimes put out offers to include free dining plans in your holiday, and this is the time to book.

If you were paying for the Quick Service dining plan, I think you would struggle to break even on the cost, however if you prefer to have pre paid for your food and don’t want to worry about carrying money around with you then the Quick Service dining plan can be a great idea.

Can You Exchange Quick Service Dining Credits?

As a general rule of thumb you can swap one quick service credit for three snacks. This is only available if the quick service location or shop allows you to do this. You can’t use two quick service credits to trade up for a table service meal though as an example.

In Epcot, we particularly enjoy eating at Lotus Blossom Cafe in the China pavilion.

Pecos Bills in Magic Kingdom is a great spot to eat just before the Festival of Fantasy parade starts for a great view of the parade.

One of the best Animal Kingdom quick service locations has to be Yak and Yeti quick service next to the table service restaurant. It’s a great place to get something a little different.

  1. We have always had the dining plan the next one up, but the quick service dining plan is great as you can go with the flow more. Great advice Angela, I bet you are on countdown now x

  2. This sounds so convenient, I like the idea of a refillable cup too. Cost wise it makes sense, if you add up what you would spend each day on meals, drinks and snacks it works out as great value x
