This morning was an early start, helped by the fact we hadn’t quite adjusted to our new time zone yet. I didn’t really realise how much I wanted to see the welcome show at Magic Kingdom during our 2014 trip until I got home and watched Youtube videos of it. I was determined to see it on this trip and logic told me to take advantage of not sleeping in during the early part of our holiday. I made sure we didn’t try to visit during extra magic hours as we would have to be up an extra hour earlier. If the park opens at 9am, we knew that the welcome show would start just after 8.30, and we wanted to be ready to leave Caribbean
We were waiting around for a while once we went through security but the wait was worth it as Miss A was right at the front leaning on the wall with us just behind her. The welcome show only lasts around ten minutes if that but it’s a great atmosphere, and perfect if you want to beat some of the queues for the bigger rides.
Walking up Main Street for the first time was just as magical as the first time I did it in 2014. The park had a huge sense of familiarity to it which was amazing. I seemed to know where I was going despite it being such a long time ago.
We actually made our way to some of the quieter rides and walked onto the carousel where Miss A had her pick of horses and managed to find Major, Cinderella’s horse. We saw Philarmagic which is a great 4D show that we missed last time. The weather got hot quickly this morning and despite a chilly start we were soon roasting. The morning passed in a flash of fast passes on Seven Dwarfs Mine train, Big Thunder Mountain and more rides as we crossed the park only stopping for a huge quick service lunch of chicken nuggets and fries. Miss A had also decided she wanted to collect some pressed pennies during this trip so we were keeping our eyes open trying to spot the pressed penny machines as we walked around the park.
Miss A was really hot by the afternoon and we were aiming to leave just after lunch, but with wait times for some of the rides longer than we hoped, and a stop for a Dole Whip float, we made it back to Main Street nearing 3pm for a stop into the Pandora shop. I decided that as the Festival of Fantasy parade was starting, I was going to stay and watch it before leaving the park, so we all stayed after a couple of Pandora purchases.
Festival of Fantasy parade is a parade we also missed last time, so I knew I didn’t want to miss it this time around. I wasn’t disappointed, it was amazing. It was definitely time to leave the park after this and head back for a dip in the pool. Walking around Disney is hard on your feet no matter how comfortable your shoes are and the best cure for tired and hot feet is a swimming pool.
A quiet night in this evening after our early start watching the movie under the stars watching the Epcot illumination fireworks in the distance which brought back great memories from 2014.
