All of our Fastpasses were booked for the afternoon today, so we decided to visit Disney Springs to spend some money and have a look around. There has been a lot of development since 2014 when we visited knowing it as Downtown Disney, but the old favourites were there and it was easy to find our way around. We had a good wander around the World Of Disney store and I seeked out the Pandora section and chose a new ring to buy.
No-one was particularly hungry by lunch time, but we were conscious of eating something, yet not too much as we had a dinner reservation for The Garden Grill later, so we tried a couple of sandwiches from the Earl Of Sandwich. I had heard such great reviews about them from friends, and I wasn’t disappointed. It was one of the best sandwiches I have tasted. The queues were going through the shop and out the door, but the lines moved quickly and I was impressed at the conveyor line making the sandwiches after order. I had the original 1762 which was a beef and horseradish and it was out of this world. I just wish there was one in the UK.
We went back to the hotel for a quick swim before making our way to Epcot during the latter part of the afternoon. The Flower and Garden Festival was in full swing and it was great seeing all the different topiaries as we walked through. We didn’t go into the World Showcase today, instead stayed around The Land after a quick trip to ride Test Track. We didn’t get the chance last time to ride it so I was glad we Fastpassed it this time.
Over in the Land we enjoyed a lovely dinner at The Garden Grill. I have gone into a lot more detail about the meal in this separate blog post, but we were very impressed and I will definitely go back there again. Miss A wanted to meet Mickey and Minnie, two character we never managed to see in their original clothes in 2014, so I was looking forward to seeing them as well. I was glad we had Fastpassed this as the queue was still quite long despite it being early evening.
We had just enough time to go on The Seas with Nemo and Friends before heading out to the lagoon to wait for the fireworks. It was starting to get dusk around 8pm when we headed out to find a spot to watch from. We picked a spot near the UK pavilion as there was a patch of fence with no one in front of it. By around 8.30pm, the crowds were starting to fill up so I was glad we found a spot when we did. There were a couple of trees around, but we had a clear view all the way across the lagoon so I think we did well.
Illuminations was also something we didn’t see during 2014, and I regretted going home and missing them, despite being able to see them from the Caribbean Beach resort, it’s not quite the same. I wasn’t disappointed at all and loved the story behind the fireworks and lights. Hubby wasn’t overly impressed but I loved it and will definitely watch again.
Miss A was quite tired tonight so she sat on the floor watching and talking to two ducks that kept wandering past but she was happy enough. She needed to rest as we were coming back to Epcot the following day to explore the World Showcase in full.
