Walking around theme parks can be hard work. I remember when we first visited Magic Kingdom, not realising how big it was and we ended up walking from New Fantasyland across to Frontierland and then back to Tomorrowland because we hadn’t planned our Fastpasses properly.
We know not to make that mistake again, however if you are visiting during the peak season, the weather can be unforgiving if you’re walking around in the middle of the day. Walt Disney World parks aren’t set up to allow you to rest when you need to, but there are plenty of places to rest in Magic Kingdom if you know where to go. Here are 5 places I like to go when we need a rest.
If you’ve only got one day in Magic Kingdom, then you need to check out this Magic Kingdom Itinerary.
Mickey’s Philharmagic show
Mickey’s Philharmagic is a 4D show in an air conditioned theatre in New Fantasyland. It’s one of my favourite quiet places at Magic Kingdom. T
he show lasts for around 12 minutes but the queue is inside the theatre allowing respite from the heat before sitting down in the comfortable seats to rest your legs. Mickey’s Philharmagic is definitely a show not to miss and a great way to enjoy your rest.
Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover
Otherwise known as the TTC or the People Mover in Tomorrowland is one of the best Magic Kingdom areas to take a break. You can sit in carriages of around four people as take a spin through Tomorrowland. A full circle will take you past Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain and more.
Some of the tour is even in the dark which is a great place to rest those eyes as well as feet. You are greeted with amazing views of Cinderella’s Castle which is a lovely bonus.
The People Mover is definitely one of my favourite places to sit at Disney World and watch the world go by.
Enjoy a bite to Eat
Rest those legs and find places to relax at Disney World by booking a lunch time reservation in a restaurant such as Cinderella’s Castle, Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square, Crystal Palace, or Be Our Guest restaurant. Enjoying a sit down meal will allow you at least an hour off your feet in an air conditioned restaurant.
Have you heard of the Disney World hub? It’s the grassy area in front of the castle. It’s often a peaceful spot and a lovely place to take your quick service meal and eat watching the day go by.
If you take a spot on the pavement for the Festival Of Fantasy Parade at 2pm daily on Main Street, you will be able to sit down for at least half an hour. Facing the castle, you want to be sitting on the left hand side of Main Street as this side will be in the shade meaning you can take a break from the sun. Whilst you wont have air conditioning, you will be off your feet for a while.
Walt Disney World Railroad
Board the train at either the front of the park, New Fantasyland or Frontierland and ride around the whole park. You can use the railroad to see more of the park as it goes around the perimeter, or use it as transportation to get from one end of the park to the other. It’s a great place to sit and rest for a while, and the bonus is you can stay on for as long as you want.
