Walt Disney World 2017 Trip Diary Day 3

Another early start this morning, we’re getting quite good at this, and our routine from Days  1 and 2 seem to be working OK for us so far. Breakfast was again pastries and muffins by the pool. This may not be the healthiest, but it’s a system that’s working for us as the moment. We had the pool area to ourselves which was lovely, and despite the construction right behind us it still feel so peaceful.

We are off to Hollywood Studios this morning with Fastpasses for Tower of Terror (not me, I’m too scared), Toy Story Mania and Star Tours. Hubby decided he didn’t want to do Star Tours as he gets motion sickness, so we cancelled that and spent the time watching Beauty and the Beast live on stage instead.

It was Photopass Day today, so we ventured into the depths of Hollywood Studios to see how long the queues were for the Evil Queen and Cruella De Ville. I would have liked a photo with them but at three hours for each line, it wasn’t something I was willing to wait in line for today.

Abby and I had another go on Toy Story Mania, we both love this ride, Hubby not so much, and then we wandered over so they could go on Tower of Terror. Abby really wanted to do it, but last year she decided she couldn’t go through with it. I was very proud of her as she did it this year and enjoyed it.

We had time to meet some characters this morning, so popped into see Olaf and walked right in to meet him. He is great fun, and even though we weren’t in there very long, we got some great photos. Onto meet Sorcerer Mickey and Minnie in her Hollywood outfit.

She took a real shine to Abby and her leopard print ears and we were there for what felt like ages with her. She was a great character meet and greet. Mickey Mouse was good too, and I’m glad we took the time as the wait time was only 15 minutes to see them both, and we were walking past anyway.

Last year I didn’t get the chance to watch Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, so this year I was determined to watch it again, as it’s such a feel good show. It didn’t disappoint, and it’s a great opportunity to rest the feet for a little while.

I wanted to pick up the Starbucks You Are Here mug so we popped in and purchased a strawberry smoothie as well for a snack credit. These are delicious and very refreshing. I am surprised at how much I enjoy them considering I don’t like bananas. We decided to pop back to the resort for some swimming and a rest as we were out tonight for Hoop De Doo Revue.

I seem to have made a friend around the pool in the form of a wasp. I don’t like wasps and this thing just wouldn’t leave me alone to sunbathe, so I spent most of the afternoon sunbathing in the pool. I was getting quite good at sitting on the pool steps to enjoy the sun and relax at the same time.

I was very excited to be going to Hoop De Doo Revue tonight. It’s been on my radar for a few years so when we decided to upgrade our dining plan this year, I booked category two seating for the middle show. We weren’t sure how long it was going to take us using the Disney transport, so we left in plenty of time for our 6.15pm show, reasoning that we could have a drink once we arrived at Fort Wilderness.

We took a bus from Caribbean Beach Resort to Magic Kingdom and then the boat over to Fort Wilderness. It was lovely to see different parts of the lake as we travelled across. The journey from resort to resort took us around an hour which was good timing and we arrived in plenty of time. So much so we found some rocking chairs and enjoyed a pre dinner drink whilst waiting for the check in area to open.

As we checked in early, we had a great table near the front of the stage off to the side. The whole evening was so much fun, we all laughed and enjoyed every single minute of it. I will write a separate post to detail the show , but there was nothing we didn’t enjoy. We had unlimited drinks that included alcohol, the food was unlimited. It was a definite highlight of the holiday so far despite only being on day 3.

We took the boat back to Magic Kingdom afterwards and then the bus back to the resort. We had toyed with popping into Magic Kingdom, but we were only there last night for the fireworks, so decided to go back for an earlyish night.
