We had a breakfast date in the Beast’s castle this morning, so we attempted to beat the busy bus period and arrive at Magic Kingdom at opening time. We failed and got stuck on a very busy bus, but we were still in plenty of time for our reservation for breakfast. Magic Kingdom was busy this morning, but it was so nice to see all the Halloween decorations in the park. I still couldn’t quite believe we were visiting at a time to see them in person.
The queue for breakfast was huge, and there was a whole different atmosphere arriving in the castle at this time for day. After ordering you seat yourself, and help yourself to drinks etc from the stations at the side. We did have to hunt for a table, and it felt very noisy in here compared to eating dinner at the start of our holiday. Breakfast was good however, and there was plenty to fill us up. We all had the Master’s feast which was fruit, sausage, bacon, scrambled egg and potatoes. A plate of pastries also arrived at the table for us to enjoy. Being on the Dining Plan, this meal worked out to be amazing value, however I’m not sure I would have wanted to pay for this one out of pocket, at $24.99 each it’s a little on the high side for a breakfast plate.
We had decided to spend the morning in Magic Kingdom doing everything we hadn’t already had a chance to do. Abby wanted to do Monsters Inc laugh Floor, so we headed around to Tomorrowland after our Fastpass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and did that before taking some Halloween photos, and heading over to Frontierland to ride Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain before grabbing some lunch in Pecos Bills. I had been hankering after some nachos all holiday, so whilst we were near, we chose nachos and burgers for lunch. I was slightly disappointed as I thought they were a little salty. However at least I tried them, I would have been more disappointed not having tried them.
I had also wanted to ride the Main Street Railway so we picked that up in Frontierland and rode it back around to the front of the park. A quick photo in front of the park with the Halloween decor in the background, and it was back to the resort for a bit of relaxation.
There was no time for swimming today as we had an early dinner reservation at Hollywood and Vine as part of the Fantasmic dinner package. We would receive tickets for a Fastpass to Fantasmic which would allow us into the seating in the middle of the arena. We had chosen not to do this however, as we had an exciting invitation from the WDWToday Twitter team to enjoy a fireworks cruise with them.
Dinner was enjoyable, the characters were great, but I can honestly say it wasn’t the best buffet restaurant we had chosen. I do think it’s a fun place for the kids, and we didn’t leave hungry, just perhaps not the first choice next time.
We had a little bit of time to waste, so we decided that we would take a bus from Hollywood Studios to the Contemporary Resort, which also passed through the Wilderness Lodge. It was nice to see the different hotels, if only from the front. We had plenty of time before our designated meet time at the Contemporary so we decided to have a wander around the gift shop and then out to the marina, where we found plenty of things to do. The chairs and tables were lovely to sit on, there is definitely a marked difference between a moderate and deluxe hotel.
We weren’t really sure what to do when we arrived at the marina, and as we were early, we people watched for a while. Eventually we spotted two cast members in different clothes looking around so we took a gamble that they were there for us, and they were. Our fireworks cruise was out of this world, and I wrote about it in more detail here, but if you ever get the chance take it!
A happy evening over, and we made out way back to Magic Kingdom on foot to get the bus back to Caribbean Beach Resort. That was a little interesting trying to find the walkway in the dark when we had never been there before! We found it and walked past security with one minute until the park closed, so we had to have our bags searched.
Arriving back to the hotel we were all tired, and unpacking the bags we realised that Abby’s phone was missing, Panic stations and some tears from Abby we tried to remember where she last had it. A phone call to the front desk and they were very helpful as they phoned through to the Contemporary to see if it had been handed in there. We knew that the boat we went out on had been borrowed from the Wilderness Lodge earlier in the evening, so they also phoned through there. Nothing was handed in, but the lost property was logged and we were advised to call again in the morning.
I don’t know what made me think, but Abby and I both have IPhones, so I checked Find My Phone and spotted her phone was sitting what looked like on the water next to the Contemporary. It must still be on the boat we used, so another call to the front desk and they promised to call the Contemporary hotel for us. Fifteen minutes later our room phone range and we were advised they had Abby’s phone, a lovely cast member had gone to check the boat in the dark for us and retrieved the phone. That’s Disney Magic at it’s best!
A relived Abby and a very tired one, we said our thankyou’s and made a plan to collect it in the morning. It meant the morning’s plans had now changed, but so be it. We went to bed exhausted tonight.
