Walt Disney World 2017 Trip Diary Day 6

We had a lay in this morning, which was more than needed. A morning by the pool whilst we did some washing. I love the laundry rooms by the village pools at Caribbean Beach Resort, they’re so convenient. The morning seemed to go by in a flash, and it was soon time to head over to Animal Kingdom to catch Festival of the Lion King. I was so disappointed that I didn’t watch it last year when we visited so I was determined not to miss it this year.

We got some amazing seats and were in the Elephant section. The show is so good and has a great feel factor to it. It’s also a welcome relief from the heat, and it was hot hot hot today in Animal Kingdom,

After a little wander around, our Fastpass for Kilimanjaro Safaris was due so off we went. We saw some great animals this time around, overtime is just so different. A lot of the giraffes were hiding in the trees, but the rhinos were out in force and we had to stop for this one to cross the road in front of us. We didn’t spot the lions this time either, but we have seen them in the past.

Dinner was booked for Yak and Yeti today, so we hung around Asia and Africa playing the drums and taking in the sights. This was going to be a lovely relaxing day. Dinner was lovely food but the service was quite poor today. It was a shame as our waitress almost ignored us for the whole of our meal, but managed to pay a lot of attention to a large table that wasn’t in her section for most of our time there. Still we didn’t let it bother us too much, and the food was delicious.

We had an early evening Fastpass for the popular Flight Of passage, so we wandered over to Pandora to look around and soak up the atmosphere. The imagineers have worked wonders on this land in Animal Kingdom, the attention to detail is amazing. Our fastpass tine was around 90 minutes after we had eaten, and I’m glad it wasn’t any sooner because I was wedged in tightly on my bike!

Wow Flight of Passage was amazing. I’m not very good with swooping up and down in rides, and this took me by surprise to start with. It was breathtaking however and I’m really glad we did it.

After another look around the land, we headed towards the Rivers Of Light Fastpass area. This was something that was due to be open during our 2016 trip, but was delayed so we were all looking forward to seeing it this year. resting our tired feet we went and sat down quite early, but the bench seating was stone at the front, and we got very very hot whilst we were waiting. In hindsight I would have preferred to go in later and not sit for so long.

I wasn’t overly amazed with Rivers Of Light for some reason. The light display was stunning and very clever using water, but it just wasn’t my favourite night time show at Walt Disney World.
