Top Destinations for a Family-Friendly Cruise this Spring/Summer

Hasn’t the weather been lovely lately. It feels as though Summer is finally on its way and we’re all ready for a long and well-deserved holiday.

If you’ve decided on a cruise, you may be wondering what destinations are best.

There are the obvious choices, like the Caribbean or the Bahamas – but there you’ll be battling the crowds and crossing your fingers there aren’t any hurricanes. Equally, the Mediterranean may appeal but, again, there’ll be hordes of people and the kids might find the heat a little too unbearable.

But don’t worry, with companies like Bolsover Cruise Club offering a fantastic selection of destinations to choose from, here are just some of the family friendly destinations you could be heading to:

Alaska

This cruise season only runs throughout spring and summer (starting in May and ending in September) and we’re pretty sure the kids will be overwhelmed by the scenery on offer. From stunning wildlife (e.g. eagles and whales) to jaw-dropping glaciers and plenty of fun activities, there’s something for everyone on this cruise. And for mum and dad, there may even be a few warmer days to chill out on top deck.

Baltic

If you fancy heading to Europe but aren’t so keen on the soaring temperatures, a Baltic cruise may be just the answer. Visiting some major cities in Russia and Scandinavia and enjoying overnight stays in places like St. Petersburg, there’s plenty to see, do and explore – as well as some relaxing days on board (while the kids are entertained in the various clubs).

Southern Caribbean

Still hankering after a Caribbean cruise? Well, this is always a good choice in summer, but to avoid the hurricanes (and some of the crowds), you may want to head south.

Here you’ll find gorgeous white sandy beaches, delicious seafood and plenty of water activities, e.g. diving and snorkelling. However, it does get quite hot here during summer, so always bear that in mind.

Arctic

If you’re not looking for heat on your holiday and you don’t mind wrapping up, the Arctic is calling.

Just like Alaska, this cruise gives you access to unique landscapes, unbelievable wildlife (reindeer, polar bears, penguins and much, much more) and plenty of sunlight.

Bermuda

Finally, if you and the kids will enjoy shopping, relaxing on the beach and heading out at night to explore the local cuisine, Bermuda is your top pick. With a lot of cruises docking here for a night or two, it gives you the chance to explore the area, taking part in activities or relaxing and unwinding on the beach.

As you can see, whatever your family’s tastes, however hot you want your holiday to be – there’s a family friendly cruise just waiting for you. You may even want to try a Disney Cruise.

  1. An Alaskan cruise is high on our travel bucket list as a family… Not something we’ll get to anytime soon though.
