After last weeks gentle start to my Moon Walk training, I have been researching distances and times. I have discovered that I am walking approximately one mile every twenty minutes which means that the 26 miles will take 8.9 hours. That’s a long time to be walking. Currently my longest time walking is around an hour, and whilst I’m not finding that particularly challenging, multiplying that by eight is definitely going to be challenging.

I had planned three days of walking three miles last week, but in actual fact I only managed two different days. One was an evening walk and it was dark which was fine as I was with a friend. The other I did the following morning which turned into a mammoth day of walking which was great for racking up the steps on my Fitbit, but it did make my feet hurt a lot.
My body is reacting well to walking frequently, and apart from an ache in my lower back, I am faring well. I have realised I stoop sometimes when walking especially against the wind that has been blowing a lot this week, so I need to watch my posture.

My feet have also become best friends with plasters, especially between my big toe and the next one along for some reason. Knowing how your body reacts will help to minimise the injuries when walking further distances.
What I have noticed particularly this week is that I am thinking more about going out for a walk and working out ways to incorporate it into my day. It does mean other things aren’t getting done but then I’m not perfect :).
The week coming, I need to think of a structure to the week and up my distance to four miles. I am also aiming to see if I can improve my pace without making my calves burn too much.
