I wrote our travel plans and wishes at the beginning of this year, something I really enjoy doing to set some goals, and also to be able to look back on to see how many we achieved.
We started the year with a visit to Longleat Safari Park and also got to experience the Festival of Lights that Longleat host each year. This was something I had been meaning to do for many years so I was glad we booked it at the end of 2018.
We had our fourth visit to Disney World planned for April, so it was a quiet few months until we got to enjoy our amazing holiday once again. This time around we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter resort instead of Caribbean Beach resort. We weren’t disappointed, and I fell in love with French Quarter.
The weekend we arrived back from Disney World, we were treated to some amazing Bank Holiday weather, so we spent a day on Charmouth Beach in Dorset hunting for fossils. It was a great way to finish off a school holiday as well.
The weather turned at the end of April, and we spent a very windy weekend exploring the Isle of Wight in the midst of Hurricane Hannah. We were quite lucky the Wightlink Ferry was still running, and our dog friendly visit to Blackgang Chine went ahead as planned.
In May over the Bank Holiday weekend, we booked a stay in Somerset at Bucklegrove Holiday Park. It was a lovely relaxing two nights away and we also got to spend a day at Wookey Hole Caves and Attractions whilst we were there.
It was soon time for Camp Bestival again, and we experienced another lovely time with glorious weather this year. We still didn’t manage to stay the whole weekend and camp due to some work commitments, but it’s on our agenda for 2020.
All of a sudden we had nothing planned for the remainder of the year and that just wouldn’t do. I went away for a night glamping in a yurt, which was something I was really keen to experience. I would like to do more glamping in 2020 and discover the different styles of glamping and places to stay.
With nothing on the horizon, I decided to bite the bullet and book Disneyland Paris. We had been talking about it for ages, and whilst I was keen not to compare to Disney World, I really wanted to go.
We booked for a few days in half term staying at Newport Bay Club hotel. After looking at the Eurostar, we discovered it was cheaper to fly, so fly we did and had a really good experience.
I really enjoyed our two days in Disneyland Paris and would love to visit again one day.
That really was it for the year as my only final wish was to visit Harry Potter Studios on my birthday which is two days before Christmas. I knew you had to book in advance, but even in September when I tried to book it was sold out for the dates I wanted. That visit is on the agenda for 2020 instead.

Looking back, what a great year. I’ve been lucky enough to go to Disney twice in a year. Hubby is asking for a relaxing holiday by the beach next. We’ll see……
Love that you managed both Disneyworld and Disneyland Paris in one year, and yes I totally forgot about the amazing weather we had over the Easter bank holiday weekend. Hope you get to Harry Potter in 2020 x
