A trip to Disney World still isn’t cheap, and one thing that will never change is the need to plan a budget-friendly vacation.

Disney dining has changed a lot in the last few years. With the pause on Disney dining plans, and the removal of buffets and some character dining, how many changes are for the better?

A lot of the changes to Disney dining revolve around what they offer now at Disney World. Mobile ordering at Disney World has been around for a few years, even before the Pandemic. In 2022 however you’re encouraged to mobile order in advance to prevent having to stand in line.

This prevents unnecessary crowding in certain areas, and also allows a more free flow through the restaurants. Cast members can manage queues and orders more efficiently. Mobile check-in for reservations lets guests maintain a distance from the restaurant entrances.

Reservations

Making reservations for Disney table service restaurants is a bit different. Disney reduced the window for making reservations to only 60 days. You also need a valid park ticket plus a Park Pass reservation in order to book dining at Walt Disney World theme parks.

Even if you don’t plan to make reservations for a table service restaurant, you should look up all dining options you have an interest in.

Dining on a budget at Disney World is easier and makes more sense than ever. Stick to quick-service restaurants and use mobile orders in advance so you can pick up your food without waiting in line.

What does a quick service meal include? Each quick service meal includes an entree and a non alcoholic drink or alcoholic drink for guests over 21 years of age).

Keep snacks available in a backpack you wear into the parks so you can refuel in an emergency. You can view menus and pricing in advance as part of your vacation planning.

If you don’t want to take your own snacks into the parks, there are plenty of quick service options available that serve portions big enough for two people.

A top tip for saving money on quick service meals at Disney World is to buy a children’s meal rather than an adult’s meal. This is completely allowed and often the portion size is plenty for an adult at almost half the cost.

Another way to save is by staying at a non-Disney resort. Some of them offer complimentary breakfast, in addition, to already lower room rates.
