I love the location of Majorca, just a two-hour flight from the UK with plenty of sunshine and lots of beaches to explore. You don’t have to travel too far across the island when in fact there are plenty of family friendly beaches near Palma Majorca.
My last visit to Majorca was a long weekend last year and we realised the potential of staying close to Palma. With the short transfer times from Palma airport, you can be relaxing on a beach quickly after landing. We stayed in El Arenal at the Azuline Hotel Bahamas, but there is so much choice to suit everyone without travelling far.
The beaches in Majorca aren’t in short supply and you can always find a beautiful stretch of beach with amazing views. For a brilliant Majorca holiday 2018, you may want to discover some of these family friendly beaches.
Palma City Beach
Located in the centre of Palma near the cathedral, you will discover a 750 meter long beach that is approximately 30 meters deep. Palma City Beach has a blue flag for its cleanliness and hosts toilets and showers.
The beach is made up of soft white sand which makes you feel as if you’re travelled far away from home, not just the short plane trip from the UK.
Illetas beach is just 6 miles southwest of Palma and is home to sandy beaches with turquoise water. Illetas Palma beach is a small beach that gets busy quite quickly so it’s often advised to arrive early in the day to find a good spot.
Cala Major Beach
Cala Major beach is 250 meters long and 50 meters deep. It is home to two areas of beach that is separated by a small pier. You have the option of hiring sun loungers and parasols which are a welcome relief from the amazing Mediterranean sun.
The sand on Cala Major Beach is natural sand with added fine white sand on the top.
El Arenal Beach
El Arenal Beach is approximately 6 miles from Palma, a lovely stretch of beach with a busy vibe. There is always plenty going on, but plenty of space to stretch out as a family and enjoy the tome together.
You will find plenty of restaurants and bars dotted along the beach front, something for everyone to try.
Ciutat Jardi beach is in the heart of Palma bay on the cycle promenade. It has a small village family vibe to it, and you will find it busiest on Sundays as that appears to be the most popular with the locals.
Ciutat Jardi beach is just five minutes drive from Palma airport, making it very convenient when landing for a short weekend break for example.
