I’m not sure what the weather is like where you are, but it feels as though it hasn’t stopped raining for weeks. There is only so much staying in out of the rain we can do, and whilst we don’t mind getting out and about in the bad weather, sometimes a day out in a dry is required. Some things to do on a rainy day in Bournemouth include:-
Located next to Bournemouth pier, the Oceanarium is always a great place to visit when the weather is rubbish. The Oceanarium won’t fill a whole day out, but it’s definitely still worth a visit if you’re in the area.
There are so many different species to visit and watch, one of my favourites are definitely the penguins. Time your visit right and you may even catch feeding time.
With fish, reptiles, mammals and birds to see, little people will be kept entertained as you wander around.
Also on Bournemouth pier is Rock Reef, an indoor activity attraction with 28 indoor climbing activities to keep everyone entertained.
You can also find an indoor caving experience for those wanting to learn about caving. Sounds interesting, but I think I would sit that one out personally.
If being under ground isn’t your idea of fun then why not try the leap of faith or a vertical slide. Something to get the adrenaline pumping.
Remember playing tag IT as a child? I do and I loved it. Laser Quest is a game based on Tag IT but using lasers instead of yourself to capture the opposing team players.
I love playing laser quest on the rare times we have visited venues offering the option. Bournemouth has it’s own Laser Quest venue located on Glen Fern Road.
Oasis Fun Indoor Fun Centre
Located on Glenfern Road, you can visit Oasic Fun, the place to go to enjoy bowling, adventure golf, soft play, pool tables, and arcades.
Indoor Crazy Golf
Mr Mulligans crazy golf is located inside the BH2 building. There are three different courses based around the Space adventures. Each 9 hole course will take around 30 minutes to complete. There is also a bar and eating area if you wish to extend your stay.

The Science Zone
The science zone sounds like a fine place to visit for those wanting something a little less active. With four different zones, the dinosaur, experiment, sensory and planetarium zone, I think there is something to suit everyone.
Each zone has a separate charge, so take a look at what to visit before you go and only pay for what interests you. I think this is a great idea to entertain the kids on rainy days.
Visit The Cinema
One of the more popular choices when looking for things to do in Bournemouth when raining is to visit the cinema. We enjoy visiting the new BH2 complex in the centre of town, especially with the reclining seats.
There is always a film out that someone wants to watch, and with plenty of restaurants and places to eat you can easily fill almost a whole day here.
I hope this post has given you some ideas on things to do in Bournemouth when it’s raining. If all else fails and you feel like getting wet, then you could always visit one of the beaches……..
