If there is something I dislike more than anything it’s cleaning my car. It’s such an effort to take the vacuum cleaner outside, lifting it in and out of the car, fighting with the hose attachments. To revolutionize my life, I have been testing out the Dyson V8 Absolute cordless vacuum cleaner.
I have always coveted one of these vacuums but never been able to justify the price tag, so I have been very excited to see just how good they are and whether they stand up to their price tag.

What’s In The Box
Inside the box you will find the main unit, three roller attachments, an upholstery attachment and a nozzle attachment. There is also a long extender pole to be able to use the vacuum as an upright, a wall mountable bracket and a charger lead. Before you can use the Dyson V8 Absolute for the first time you will need to charge the battery, which is a simple plug-in against the main unit.
First Impressions
On first impressions, I have been impressed. The Dyson V8 Absolute is stylish, lightweight and easy to work out how to use. The attachments click in and out easily, and can be done with just one hand which could be an important factor when considering a new expensive purchase.
We decided to find a permanent home for the Dyson V8 Absolute on the wall near a plug socket so it could live happily staying charged for when we needed to use it.The three different head attachments can all be used for different things, and finding what works best has been interesting.
One attachment has a ball joint to be able to turn corners easily, whilst the smaller head attachment is great for floor areas but that fits into small spaces.
Using The Dyson V8 Absolute
To begin with I decided to test out the Dyson V8 Absolute in my car to see if it could make my life easier. My video at the bottom of this post shows in more detail me cleaning my car and how the vacuum fared, but I was so impressed immediately.
It really has changed my thought process when it comes to cleaning my car, the job is no longer a chore and only takes a few minutes. It can even be done in the rain as there are no wires to worry about.Inside the house, we have been using the Dyson V8 Absolute for a variety of jobs.
The vacuum copes well with transferring from carpet to hard floors using the attachments provided. With the two power settings, you can choose which is needed. I find that on carpet, we use the higher power, and the hard floors cope fine with the lower power setting.
Vacuuming the house is so much quicker now, as we just unclick from its home on the wall, press the power nozzle and we’re off. There’s no more unwinding cables and plugging in, stopping to swap plug sockets when we have run out of cable. It really has saved us so much time.

How Long Does The Dyson V8 Absolute Take To Charge?
As the Dyson V8 Absolute is cordless, it means the power is via a battery. If you use the vacuum on the high power setting then you will notice the battery life depleting a lot quicker than if you use the lower power setting.
I have never run out of battery life during a single vacuum use. We live in a standard sized three bedroom property, so perhaps if you have very large house then you may find yourself running out of power, but I think for the standard household it will be fine. The battery is aimed to last for up to 40 minutes on standard power.
Charging time from empty takes around an hour, however we leave ours on charge all the time when not using it to keep it topped up.
Overall
I can honestly say the Dyson V8 Absolute has changed my view of vacuuming. It’s not a chore now as it takes so little time. The dirt cartridge opens at the base which means you just have to open the bin lid, and you can empty straight into a bin making it very easy.
The filter is washable meaning you never have to worry about additional purchases of anything once the vacuum has been purchased.
I have been very impressed with the Dyson V8 Absolute, and the fact that it’s so lightweight as well as having so many other great qualities means that I can lift it above my head without feeling any weight, perfect for getting rid of those cobwebs. I definitely think the #dysonV8 is worth its price tag.
