Where are the best mazes in the UK? Finding your way through a maze is a fun family activity. There are plenty of attractions across the UK that have a maze to navigate during your visit. Mazes are made from a variety of different materials, and as such can be open at select times of the year.
Maize mazes are planted in April to be ready in the Summer months, Maize can grow up to heights of over 7ft tall, and at the end of the season it’s harvested and fed to the cattle.

In the Summer months, you can also discover some fun sunflower mazes. Walking through tall sunflowers trying to find the way out is definitely a unique way to navigate a maze.
Traditional hedge mazes and yew mazes are open for longer periods of the year due to the care and maintenance needed to keep them tidy.
Mazes In Berkshire
The maze at Cliveden is based on one that was built for the 1st Viscount Astor in 1894 and has over 500 metres of paths winding amongst two-metre high hedges. The maze covers approximately one third of an acre, making the maze the same size as the world-famous Hampton Court maze.

The Alice in Wonderland themed maze is a great part of your day out at Adventure Wonderland in Dorset. The maze is one of the original attractions from when the park first opened, covering over an acre in size.
The maze is open through the year, aligning with park opening times. During special times of the year such as at Halloween, it gets a spooky makeover.

The Milky Way Adventure Park Maze

The maze at The Milky Way in Devon is one of the biggest in the South West and the only maze in the UK within an operating railway line. The maze is both wheelchair and pushchair friendly.

The Maze at Tibbs Farm consists of over 3,000 Beech trees. Due to the trees, the maze can be open all year round.
Mazes In Gloucestershire

The Dragonfly maze is open from February onwards. The maze is a traditional yew hedge maze with about half a mile of pathways. There are 14 clues dotted around the pathways of the maze.
Only when these are found are you able to crack the rebus puzzle and find the golden dragonfly hidden in the round house at the centre of the maze.
Mazes In Kent

At the childhood home of Anne Boleyn you’ll find a yew maze and a water maze. The yew maze is open from February onwards and the water maze from the end of March.
The yew maze is around 100 years old. It measures eighty feet by eighty feet, and was built in the Edwardian era by William Waldorf Astor.
The water maze at hever Castle is situated on Sixteen Acre Island. A maze with a difference that consists of a series of concentric stepping stone walkways sitting over water.
Some of the stones will tilt when stepped one which spark hidden water jets to soak you. Can you reach the stone grotto in the centre without getting wet? Don’t forget the towels!
Leeds Castle Maze And Underground Grotto

Are you ready for the challenge that is Leeds Castle maze? The maze is made up of 2,400 yew trees and when viewed from the centre, part of its plan mirrors a queen’s crown.
Once you have reached the middle of the maze, you can return to the outside via an underground grotto. Inside you’ll see mythical beasts created from shells, minerals and wood.

There are 8 different routes within the adventure Maze at Farmer Ted’s. The route is changed every few months to keep return visitors guessing.
Generally the maze will take around half an hour to complete, but you could be in there longer if you get lost!

The Hampton Court Palace Maze is the UK’s oldest surviving hedge maze. It’s probably one of the most famous mazes in the World and not for the faint hearted. It can take around 20 minutes to reach the centre, so leave yourself plenty of time.

The Marlborough hedge maze at Blenheim palace is located in the walled garden. You can walk from the palace or use the miniature train which is also a fun activity.
The maze is two miles in length and made up of hundreds of yew trees in a design inspired by the history of Blenheim Palace.

Horrible Histories Maze At Warwick Castle

The Horrible Histories Maze is a walk-through experience combining special effects, obstacles and minor motion movements. There are no age restrictions, and you may get lost. The maze is also wheelchair accessible, and there are plenty of emergency exits found along the way.

At Longleat Safari Park, you’ll find a traditional hedge maze that’s been open since 1978. It’s the largest hedge maze in Britain, made up of 16,000 English yew trees. Make sure you have plenty of time to get lost in this maze, as it can take up to 90 minutes to solve and get back out again.
