As a new year begins, I know travel plans feature a lot on people’s minds. With the cold weather and lack of sunlight, we are all craving some warmth and relaxation. I have already booked a short break away at Easter, but I know I have to get creative and work out how to save money for travel if we are going to have more nice trips away this year.

The best place to start a travel fund is to go back to basics with your budget. Is there any room to be able to save some of your regular monthly income towards your travel plans? When we book big holidays such as Walt Disney World, then I always have to get creative with the monthly budget to be able to save a little from here.
Is there an option to get overtime at work? I did this last year when saving for a holiday and I made sure that all the excess I received after my regular monthly salary was put away into a separate account on pay day. That way it wasn’t going to get lost in my bank account and used on other things.
Sell Unwanted Items
It’s always a good idea to have a regular declutter and sell unwanted items. Selling on local sale sites is one of my favourite ways to do this, and I put all the money aside and then bank it separately so it going into the travel fund account. In the spring time, it might be a good idea to have a car boot sale as well.
Make Extra Money Online
There are plenty of ways you can make extra money online these days. I have talked in more detail about some of my favourite ways I do this in this post. From online surveys to free lotteries, there are plenty of ideas around.
We’re always shopping, whether it’s for groceries, or larger household items. There is always cash back to be found when shopping online, so you’d be a fool to miss out on these opportunities. Join Topcashback and receive money back on your shopping.
Skim Your Bank Account
At the end of every day or week depending on how you like to do it, check your bank account and skim off the pennies to the nearest pound into your travel fund account. It’s surprising how quickly the pennies can add up over time, and it keeps the figures in your bank account neat and tidy too.
Check For Coupons And Vouchers
Coupons and Vouchers can be found in lots of places. If you’re buying the item anyway and can save the money then the difference can go into your travel fund.
I hope I’ve given you plenty of ideas to discover how to save money for travel and adventures. These are the ideas I will be continuing to use as we save for our Walt Disney World holiday again next year.
