How To Play Charades
Charades is a game of acting. The rules of the game is to act out your chosen word in front of you. In this Disney Movie charades version, you’ll be acting out the Disney movie to the other players in the game.
If there are lots of players, you could divide everyone up into two teams, or choose to play as individuals. The player who guesses correctly can take the next turn.

Charades Gestures
To begin helping your other players to guess the Disney movie you’re acting out, use these helpful charades gestures to assist you.
- How many words in the title – hold number of fingers indicating the number of words up in the air.
- Does a word sound like another word?- point your index finger at the earlobe or hold your hand behind your ear.
- How many syllables are in a word – Hold the correct number of fingers against your forearm.
- Is the word “Plural” – Hook your little fingers into each other.
As the game is describing movies primarily, pretend you are using an old fashioned movie camera. Was it also a book? Unfold your hands as if you are opening a book.
Where was the movie set? For the location make a circle in the air (representing the earth) and point to as if pointing on a map
Are you describing a person? Stand with your hands on your hips in a pose. If you need to describe a song, pretend to sing on one knee or over a microphone.
Charade Clues
When the other players get something right, or are getting warmer, use these gestures to show them without speaking.
- When a player gives a correct guess – Tap your index finger against your nose and point to the person who is right.
- Show the other players they are warm – Wipe your hand over your forehead to imitate wiping away sweat.
- Show the other players they are nowhere near a correct guess – Fold your arms and shiver.
