Disney Genie Service To Replace Fastpass+

Disney World have announced the Disney Genie Service. This has been reimagining the guest experience at Disney World. Beginning in the Fall of 2021 (Autumn for the UK readers), this new service replaced the Fastpass+ system that has been in operation for many years now.

There have been many changes over the last eighteen months or so with park closures and adaptations having to be made for guests and cast members alike. The Genie service has been one of the latest in the line of new announcements for the Disney parks.

What Is The Disney Genie Service?

A new addition to the My Disney Experience app, the Disney Genie service is designed to maximise your park time. It includes an itinerary feature to help you plan your days in the parks. This will range from attractions, food experiences and entertainment. You can also utilise it for the Disney character experiences.

The system displays current and forecasted wait times for rides and attractions helping you plan your day. You’ll be able to Join a virtual queue at certain attractions, make dining and experience reservations. You will also be able to use mobile order at multiple food locations. There’s even the option to  get help from a virtual assistant.

Disney Genie+

The next level from the new Disney Genie service is to purchase Disney Genie+. Covering 40 attractions and experiences throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks. The system will let you select the next available arrival window for the new Lightning Lane entrances.

One selection can be made at a time throughout the day. These attractions will include Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, as well as Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

If your theme park ticket includes the Park Hopper option, you can select Lightning Lane arrival windows across multiple theme parks.

Beginning at 7:00 AM on the day of your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to secure your first arrival time.

How Much Will The Disney Genie+ Cost?

The cost will be around $15 per day, per ticket at Walt Disney World. You will be able to choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance. Once you’ve redeemed your initial selection (or the arrival window has passed), you can make another selection using your mobile, until the park closes.

Disney Genie+ will also include  the photo memories we have previously known as Memory Maker.

There will also be an additional service with payment allowing guests to schedule a time to arrive at up to 2 attractions each day using the Lightning Lane entrance.

These will include rides such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom park. Pricing for this option will vary by date, attraction and park.

A new feature to the app is the Lightning Lane service. This essentially is replacing the Fastpass+ queue system that guests have been using for the past few years.

The Lightning Lane service is available for Genie+ and Genie service users, covering those high demand attractions. You will be able to purchase a return time for your selected attraction on the same day of purchase. Don’t want to wait in the standby line for your favourite ride? Now you can purchase an entry ticket for the ride, known as Lightning Lane.

You can purchase and select an arrival window one at a time for up to 2 attractions total per day. If you’re staying in a Disney resort, you can make your first purchase from 7am. If you’re staying elsewhere and visiting Disney World, you can purchase your Lightning Lane rides and attractions once the park opens.

Prices will vary according to demand and ride or attraction. How much would you be willing to pay for your favourite ride?
