Hubby is a big fan of the ice and will skate at any opportunity. 7yo seems to have inherited his love for it as well, so we took the opportunity on Christmas Eve to go ice skating at a local outdoor rink that is there for the festive period.
The rink was really busy, but the sun peeked through the clouds for a lot of the session, so for the participants it wasn’t too cold. It wasn’t long before 7yo had her coat off as she was too hot. I on the other hand was freezing watching from the barrier.
It didn’t take too long before 7yo wanted to give it a go without holding onto her Daddy’s arm. There was a bit of a You’ve Been Framed moment that I didn’t catch on camera, but it involved 7yo falling over, and then when hubby tried to save her he also went over (and he NEVER falls over on the ice).
She was actually getting quite good at it by the end of the session and you could see her confidence rising. She has improved a lot since the last time we went skating.
The session seemed to be over quite quickly, but it was a great way to spend our Christmas Eve as a family before the madness began. It was also a great distraction from the excitement that was building too quickly that day.
