Christmas ice skating is a great family friendly activity during the festive season. With many ice rinks around the UK popping up over the Winter months, there’s usually a great ice rink near you to discover.

Ice Rinks In Cornwall

The Eden Project ice rink opens in October offering a variety of different skating sessions.
Ice Rinks In Dorset
Dates: 9th December 2023 – 18th February 2024
The largest indoor ice skating rink on the South Coast can be found at Bournemouth International Centre. The ice rink opens in December for the Christmas season and stays open until February half term. Skating sessions last for 60 minutes with plenty of seats for spectators.

Set in the heart of Bournemouth Lower Gardens, the outdoor ice rink is a popular attraction through the festive season.
Dates: 25th November – 31st December 2023
From November 25th until the end of December, the outside ice rink is back in Brewery Square, Dorchester.
Ice Rinks In Devon
Plymouth Winter City Ice Skating
Dates: 24th November – 24th December 2023
The undercover ice rink will be open during the festive season in Plymouth. Your one hour skating session is open until 9pm across the selected dates. Why not also visit Santa and enjoy the festive funfair during your visit too.
Ice Rinks In East Sussex
Dates: 9th – 31st December 2023
Eastbourne will be hosting an ice rink in the town centre, with skaters able to enjoy 60 minutes of skating seven days a week. You’ll find the ice rink at the Enterprise Centre, just a short distance from the train station with ample parking.
Dates: 28th October 2023 – 7th January 2024
Ice skating in Brighton at the Royal Pavilion ice rink opens from the end of October right up until January 2024. The open air ice rink is open from morning until late with sessions lasting 45 minutes.
Ice Rinks In Essex
Dates: 18th November – 24th December 2023
The ice rink at Marsh Farm is included in your Santa experience ticket. There’s also a Christmas train ride and festive fun fair on offer as well.
Dates: 16th November 2023 – 3rd January 2024
Set in Lakeside Quay, ice skating in Essex is set to return this Christmas from 16th November. As well as festive ice skating there’s plenty of attractions and food and drink.
Your ice skating experience takes place under a giant igloo protecting you from the elements.
Ice Rinks In Hampshire

The large Portsmouth ice rink can be found in Guildhall Square. The ice rink opens in November 2022 which is large enough for 200 skaters in each session. Skating sessions last for an hour and there are skating aids available to hire for those not so confident.
Dates: 11th November 2023 – 7th January 2024
West Quay on ice showcases a 600 meter ice rink which will be open every day apart from Christmas day. Skate against the Southampton City walls for a great festive day out.
Ice Rinks In Kent

The outdoor ice rink in Kent and festive stalls are only a five-minute walk from the train station and town centre.

Christmas By The Sea In Blackpool

Blackpool’s Tower Festival Headland will be transformed into a breath-taking festive village complete with an outdoor skating rink. The 40m rink is the sparkling centrepiece of our Christmas By The Sea village. Standing in the shadow of the iconic Blackpool Tower, the synthetic rink is free to use for both residents and visitors and includes skate hire.

At this under cover ice rink in Leicester, you will also find some fun themed skating sessions across the Winter period. Groups of four or more people will receive a discounted price on the ice too.
Ice Rinks In London

There’s plenty of opportunity to skate at Canary Wharf as the ice rink is open between October and February.

The Hampton Court ice rink is located in the gardens of Henry VIII’s home. The open-air ice rink is surrounded by spectacular views of the historic Tudor palace. The ice rink is open between November and January for the Christmas season.

Visit the UK’s largest open-air ice rink at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland in London. Skating is available every day between November and January 10am – 10pm.
Wheelchairs are allowed on the ice and there are ramps both in and out of the skate facility and on and off the rink. Electric wheelchairs are permitted on the Ice provided that the motors are off.

You can visit the open air ice rink in the heart of Greenwich which is open from 23rd November 2023. The ice rink offers views of Greenwich Park to the south and the glittering lights of Canary Wharf to the north. These are some of the best views in London.
Battersea Power Station Ice Rink
Dates: 10th November 2023 – 7th January 2024
Glide at Battersea Power Station is open between 10th November and 7th January. This open air ice rink in London has an amazing back drop as you skate. There are three interconnecting rinks surrounded by twinkling lights and a spectacular 30ft Christmas tree. All with a view of the Thames.
Ice Rinks In Manchester
Dates: 27th October 2023 – 2nd January 2024
Manchester’s outdoor ice rink is open between 27th October and 2nd January this year. There’s a new ice path at its home in Cathedral Gardens to allow skating around the impressive Christmas tree.
Despite the ice rink being outdoors, there is a cover so you can still skate whatever the weather.

Depot Mayfield has an amazing festive outdoor ice rink this year. The ice rink opens in October and is perfect for the whole family. There are penguin skating aids available to pre book should you need them.
Dates: 17th December 2023 – 1st January 2024
You can visit Winter Funland in Manchester at the BEC Arena during December and January. Included in your ticket is entry to ice skating. Winter Funland is aimed at children up to 9 years old.
Ice Rinks In Northamptonshire

The fully open air but undercover ice rink opens in November at Whilton Locks Garden Village. Skating is perfect for the whole family with plenty of shaking aids available if you need to book one.
Free car parking and free skate hire is included in the cost of the skating sessions.
Ice Rinks In Nottinghamshire
Dates: 7th November – 31st December 2023
From the 7th November, you can enjoy ice skating in Nottingham at Nottingham Winter Wonderland. There’s also an ice bar, observation wheel, live entertainment and Christmas market.
Dates: 24th November 2023 – 7th January 2024
There’s free skating for under 5’s at the National Ice Centre this Christmas. Skating is for everyone and there’s lessons available to book as well if you’d like.
It would take 30,255 laps of the ice rink to travel between Nottingham and Lapland. Add your laps to the daily tally to help reach Lapland this year!

Bath On Ice opens in November for the Christmas season. Located in Royal Victoria Park, skating is available all day until 10pm.

Ice Rinks In West Midlands

Ice Skate Birmingham is opening at Centenary Square, Broad Street, B1 2EA on the 2nd November 2023 to 7th January 2024. Accompanied wheelchairs and motorised wheelchairs are welcome on the ice making this a great accessible ice skating session.
Ice Rinks In West Sussex

You’ll find one of the region’s largest indoor ice rinks at the Three Counties Showground this year. Between 24th November 2023 and 6th January 2024, you can enjoy all weather ice skating in 45 minute sessions.
Ice Rinks In Yorkshire
Dates: 18th November 2023 – 8th January 2024
Between 18th November 2023 and 8th January 2024, you can experience ice skating in Yorkshire at Stockeld Park. The 630 square meter ice rink is covered from the elements but open at the sides to appreciate the amazing views of the parkland.

York’s favourite festive event includes an outdoor ice rink known as the Ice Factor. Opening in November 2023, The Ice Factor is the North of England’s largest outdoor ice rink. It also includes a 30ft high sparkling Christmas tree as its centrepiece.
The Whitby Ice rink will NOT be open in 2023
The Whitby ice rink will be even bigger this year when it opens at the beginning of December. Ice skating in Whitby will be undercover so you can skate whatever the weather.

Ice skating is back at the Millenium Square in Leeds this Christmas from the end of November. You will feel as though you are skating outside yet the ice rink has a transparent cover to keep you dry.
