Christmas Events In Devon
Plymouth Winter City
Dates: 2024 TBC
The undercover ice rink will be open during the festive season in Plymouth. Your one hour skating session is open until 9pm across the selected dates. Why not also visit Santa and enjoy the festive funfair during your visit too.
Christmas At Powderham Castle
Dates: 2024 TBC
There’s lots going on at Powderham Castle in December. As well as the Christmas trail and evening light walk, you can also visit Santa’s grotto and secret garden and petting zoo.
Glow At RHS Garden Rosemoor
Dates: Selected dates between 15th November – 28th December 2024
See the garden at RHS Rosemoor covered in sparkly lights. Follow the longest Glow trail yet, with spectacular new light displays. There will be a galaxy of giant stars on the Stream Field, a tunnel of lights along the Long Borders, and the Orchard shelter will be lit up.

Brixham Lanterns, Lights & Illuminations
Dates: 2024 TBC
Lanterns, Lights & ‘Luminations was first launched in 2007 and has grown in popularity ever since. The event includes a magical lantern parade, an incredible firework display held in the Harbour Bowl, live music, street entertainment, and a street market.
Carols In The Caves
Date: 26th November – 19th December 2024
Enjoy a magical Christmas concert in the caves at Kents Cavern. The acoustics of the choir are amazing in the Vestibule Chamber, before wandering around the caves and enjoying mulled wine or hot chocolate.
The Big Sheep Toddler Takeover Christmas Special
Dates: 2024 TBC
The kids can meet the REAL Santa and take home some Christmas keepsakes. There’s also the Jiggy Wrigglers interactive music show to enjoy.
Dartmouth Christmas Train Of Lights
Dates: 29th November – 30th December 2024
The Dartmouth Steam Railway has the UK’s first steam train of lights. The magical Christmas experience begins on 29th November 2024 and runs until the end of December.
The illuminated journey begins from Queens Park station in Paignton and travels to Kingswear.
To see Santa on your journey, don’t forget to book a steam train of lights plus Santa ticket. Each person travelling will receive a gift from Santa.
Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Christmas Trains
Dates: 2024 TBC
The Santa trains and mince pie specials will be running again this year. You can expect a festively decorated railway and free mince pies and hot drinks for passengers.
Seaton Tramway Polar Express

South Devon Railway Polar Express Train Ride
Location: The Station, Dartbridge Road, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0DZ. Your Polar Express train journey in Devon begins at Buckfastleigh Station.
Dates: 29th, 30th November, 1st, 6th – 8th, 13th – 15th, 18th – 23rd, 28th – 29th December 2024
Parking: There is a free park and ride service for all guests of the Polar Express in Devon. There is no parking at the station. The address is River Dart Country Park, Ashburton, Devon, TQ13 7NP.
Prices: Prices vary according to your chosen travel dates.
Duration: The length of the whole Polar Express experience lasts around two hours, with the train journey lasting an hour.
Pennywell Farm Winter Wonderland

Visit Pennywell Farm this festive season as it’s transformed into a magical winter wonderland with twinkling lights. There are hundreds of Christmas trees and plenty of Christmas sparkle waiting to be admired.
Included in your ticket price is a walking nativity journey, elf’s sweet shop, mince pies and tractor and trailer rides. There’s also the visit to see Father Christmas too.
Glow Wild At Paignton Zoo

Why not visit this immersive light experience at Paignton Zoo this festive period. Your journey begins as you step into the magical world and travel around the zoo. With bright, colourful interactive light displays, you’ll be wowed at every corner.
Dartmoor Zoo Zooluminate

Dartmoor Zoo will come to life after dark this year with Zooluminate. There will be plenty of lights around the zoo and even around the enclosures. They have all been researched to not cause any harm to the animals.

The Big Sheep Christmas Market

Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market
Dates: 15th November – 15th December 2024
The Exeter Cathedral Christmas market takes place on the Cathedral Green. You can expect a Winter wonderland set among a labyrinth of winding lanes, fairy lights and seasonal sights and smells of festive chalets. This is Devon’s biggest Christmas market since opening in 2013.
