2019 Disney World Trip Day 5 – Epcot

It was super hot this morning when we ventured out for Epcot. We were planning a half day in the park finished off with lunch at the Rose and Crown Pub Dining Room.

Flower and Garden Festival is in full swing and even after touring around the World Showcase the other day, we still hadn’t seen all the festival has to offer.

We initially had a Fastpass for Test Track this morning, however when we arrived the ride was down for maintenance and it didn’t open again all morning, so we missed out on this one. Instead we went back to Soarin’ which is one of our favourites.

Onwards to the entrance of the World Showcase, we decided to see the butterflies in the butterfly garden. It’s quite humid inside, like a rainforest, so we couldn’t stay inside too long, but it was fun trying to spot the different species of butterflies.

Before we knew it, it was time for our lunch reservation. I was looking forward to the Rose and Crown, as it was somewhere we had never eaten before.

We were seated inside the restaurant and it was nice and cool. I opted for the Welsh burger and it was delicious. The others all had fish and chips which looked lovely too.

The desserts were very traditional, and I had opted for a chocolate mallow bar dessert which I have never heard of before but it was very tasty.

After a wander around the United Kingdom pavilion, we decided it was time to head back to Port Orleans French Quarter and enjoy an afternoon in the pool.

The pool wasn’t too busy this afternoon, so we enjoyed a good few hours just sunbathing and swimming. Abby managed to cut her toe on one of the grates on the floor of the pool, however it was dealt with very quickly and we ended up with some additional Fastpasses for the following day which wasn’t necessary but kind.

Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside resorts share their Movies Under The Stars on alternative nights. We had planned to stay at the resort this evening and watch Mary Poppins Returns.

Our rooms were located right next to the grass area and fire put so we didn’t have a long walk at all. Towels, and popcorn were provided for us to sit and watch the movie to once it got dark. It was also a good time to enjoy a lovely glass of wine.

Sometimes being at Disney World doesn’t have to be hectic every moment of every day. Having Hubby’s Mum with us on this holiday meant we would be taking things a little slower and this had been a great day to experience some slower times.

Tomorrow is a day at Animal Kingdom and lunch at the Rainforest Cafe.
