Do you wonder what to pack for climbing Mount Snowdon? Your Snowdonia packing list may change slightly depending on the time of year you visit. This is of course weather dependent, and can mean swapping out the shorts in the Summer for thermal trousers in the Winter months.

No matter what time of the year you are visiting Mount Snowdon, these Snowdon kit list items are essentials regardless of the weather conditions. There’s nothing worse than arriving for your hike to realise you’ve left something important at home.

Electricals
I know you’re climbing a mountain but you will still wish you’d packed some electricals. There is a surprisingly good network signal as you travel up Mount Snowdon, and I know you’ll want to stop often to take some photos. I know I did!

Mount Snowdon Backpack
Climbing Mount Snowdon will require you to take some essentials with you. A back pack or ruck sack is a great idea as it doesn’t get in the way during your hike. I found a 15L backpack suited my needs perfectly without being too heavy.
A typical hike can take around three hours upwards to reach the top of the mountain so you’ll be glad of packing some of the following items in your bag.
A first aid kit is a must have item for your bag. It doesn’t have to be huge but to have the basic essentials such as plasters, safety pins, eye wash, paracetamol and antibacterial cream.

You will need to stay hydrated so a couple of water bottles are a must. Generally there are facilities at the summit, however check before you go in case you can’t replenish that water.
Sunscreen can be used across much of the year. Remember that just because it isn’t sunny, doesn’t mean you can’t catch the sun.
Hand sanitizer is a must! You may find yourself using your hand to climb certain rocky areas. When you stop to eat along the way, hand sanitiser is perfect for refreshing your hands.
Snacks or a light lunch is essential to keep your energy up! It’s surprising how a sweet, flapjack or energy bar can keep you going when you think you can’t carry on. There are plenty of people who also take a packed lunch to enjoy at the summit.
Don’t forget to pack your phones that you’ve been charging to take up the mountain with you. The views are stunning no matter what the weather, and you’ll want the memories.
Tissues, lip balm and sunglasses are all also a good idea for your hiking bag. They don’t take up very much room and the weather on the mountain can be so interchangeable.
Spring Packing List For Mount Snowdon
Ah, Spring time is that time where it can be raining one minute and sunny the next. It’s difficult to know what’s best to pack when the weather can be so interchangeable. The best advice for visiting Mount Snowdon in the Spring time is to be prepared for every eventuality.

Summer Packing List For Mount Snowdon
If we are lucky to have a Summer, and plenty of sunshine, your visit to Mount Snowdon could well be warm or even hot. Whilst the sunshine is more than welcome, in really hot weather it can become unbearable, especially if you’re not prepared.

It can get cold during the Winter months in Wales, and you may even be lucky enough to visit when it’s snowing. This is an exciting time to visit, but the excitement can disappear quickly when you’re cold and wet.
