Planning A Weekend Away On A Budget

I’ve talked a little about turning 40 in December last year, and how my close friends and I are only  a few months apart in age. We have already celebrated by having a spa day and enjoying afternoon tea, but we had said a few years ago, that we were going to book a weekend away with some sunshine when we all turned 40.

It was going to have to be a weekend away on a budget though so the challenge was on. Late last year we decided that we would wait until the spring time to make sure that we had a better chance of some decent temperatures in Europe as we didn’t want a long flight time.

Planning a weekend away on a budget

We have all spent time searching the internet for some good deals, and looking at hotel reviews to make sure that we would be able to find somewhere nice for not a lot of money. Each of us have different ways of searching for good deals as we all found out. I discovered that there are plenty of online vouchers to be found which really helped in our search.

We settled on Majorca as a couple of us have been before, and then it was time to decide on the area and the hotel. We all knew that we wanted to be close to the airport to gain maximum time out of the weekend, and we immediately knew that we wanted to book all-inclusive to save money over the weekend.

As we were pricing everything out, it worked out so much cheaper to book all-inclusive and not have to worry about spending money on drinks, than it did to book half board.

After spotting around ten different hotels that fit the bill, we spent time researching them in terms of online reviews, facilities, and location. We are planning our weekend away on a budget, however we also wanted value for money, and when some of the very cheap packages returned not so favourable reviews, we discounted them and moved onto the better hotels.

For £200 each we have managed to secure an all-inclusive package holiday for Friday to Monday to the Azuline Hotel Bahamas in the El Arenal area of Majorca. It’s 15 minutes away from Palma airport, and is within 5 minutes walk from the beach.

For our £200 we also have included airport transfers and holiday insurance. All we need to take is ourselves and a little bit of emergency money just in case, but what a bargain! We were all very happy with this price, and it’s a great way to celebrate a 40th birthday. All that’s left to do now is count down the weeks and get packing.
