I was offered the chance to review some women’s boots so I opted for the Hi Tec Penrith Low Waterproof hiking boots.
These Hi Tec walking boots were originally gifted to me in 2017, however after walking more miles than I care to think about, I have since retired the original pair and bought myself a second pair because I liked them so much.
After completing my first ever Moon Walk challenge in my trainers a few years ago, I decided that any future walking challenges would be completed with improved footwear.
My trainers were adequate for the job in hand, and coupled with the correct walking socks, I didn’t suffer from not having walking boots, however there is a different level of support from walking boots to trainers.
My next walking challenge was to the the Macmillan Mighty Hike across the Jurassic Coast in 2017. Hiking boots were a must for this challenge.

Why Choose Hiking Boots
Hiking boots are different to trainers as they are a lot sturdier and feel a lot more supportive around the ankle and over the top of the foot. The quality of a walking boot will often be better compared to trainers which is essential when you find yourself walking longer distances, or over uneven terrain.
Hi-Tec Penrith Low Ladies Walking Boots
On first impressions I liked the style of the Hi-Tec Penrith Low Waterproof Hiking Boots.
I also liked the colour of the boots as well but this wasn’t the reason I chose them. I wanted hiking boots that would be supportive and keep my feet working to their best.
I can still remember hobbling around for a day or so after walking the Moon Walk and I wanted to prevent this from happening as much as I can on future walking challenges.
Waterproof walking boots are an essential choice for comfort. The Hi-Tec Penrith Low boots have a waterproof membrane to keep your feet dry with a breathable shell which have kept my feet perfectly dry despite walking through the long wet grass that is typical of this time of year.
I am always a little wary when ordering shoes online that I won’t choose the correct size. I am a UK size 5, however I ordered these boots in a UK size 6. With thick socks which I will be wearing when walking longer distances, they are a perfect fit.
During the first couple of times wearing the Hi-Tec Penrith Low boots, I noticed that they were quite stiff and would need some wearing in. I did find you have to really do the laces up tight to prevent the shoes from slipping against the foot.
The laces are very long in the boots so a double tie is needed. After the first couple of wears they are now very comfortable for walking and so much nicer to walk in than my trainers ever were. I wish I had introduced myself to walking boots before.
I have found Hi-Tec walking boots to be of good quality and a very reasonable price for a walking shoe.. I still wear these walking boots multiple times a week, and they are still waterproof and comfy. They have also enjoyed a few days in Disneyland Paris with me where I wore them every day without suffering with my feet.

I got a pair of hi-tec boots earlier in the year, and they are so comfortable (big leather ankle supporting ones). Nice for this time of year, over my Solomon hiking shoes. They do make some excellent shoes for walking in. My other half needs some now, so will show her this.
