Home made pizza is one of my favourite things to eat. Trying to be healthy and avoiding an over load of carbs, I decided to try out a different kind of pizza that a friend had told me about a few weeks ago. Gammon steak pizza.
Pizza on top of a gammon steak. Different! We don’t often have gammon steaks in the house, but Miss A likes them and so does Hubby, so I thought by adding a pizza topping to it, I may find it a little more interesting to eat. You can also use a butterfly chicken breast to get the same outcome if you’re following the Slimming World diet.
I grilled one side of my gammon before adding any topping, and let the topping side just sear off slightly before adding the base of tomato puree. This reduces the cooking time when you have added the toppings.

You can add any ingredients you have really. I had spring onions, cheese, mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes, so it all went on after being sliced and diced. Use your cheese as your healthy extra if you’re following the Slimming World diet.
Topped with cheese, I let the cheese melt under the grill and let the gammon finish cooking. You could cook this equally as well in an oven if you don’t have access to a grill.
It was actually very tasty, and there were plenty of calls for “Can we have this again please?” A winning recipe to add to the collection.
If you’re following the Slimming World Diet plans, this is a great alternative if you are craving pizza without using up your sins on the base. If you use your cheese allowance as your healthy extra then this pizza topped gammon can become sin free which is even better.
