Since having Lola, we certainly look for dog friendly holidays when we’re researching short breaks and weekends away in the UK.
Dog friendly accommodation is a lot more popular than it was a few years ago, which makes enjoying time away with your beloved pet a lot easier to find.
Being able to take Lola on holiday with us has allowed us to discover some amazing places in the UK, and we hope to discover even more as time goes on.
Captain’s House, Morfa Nefyn, West Wales

Last year we found a perfect place to go that catered for both a large family and a Newfoundland dog, it was called Captains House in Morfa Nefyn in North West Wales, the village has a number of large properties that can accommodate up to 12 people and many are dog friendly.
The one we stayed in was set over three floors with a fully enclosed garden, so perfect for any family pet.
The entire area of Morfa Nefyn is geared towards dogs, as you walk down the slip road to the beach, during the summer months it clearly states that dogs are welcome to the left of the sign and the dog friendly beach area continued for miles.
From 1st October to 31st March the entire beach is dog accessible. The sea was perfect for both the children and the dog, it was very calm and got deeper gradually, she actually learned to swim whilst on this beach as it didn’t have big crashing waves like at home.
Do keep an eye on tide times, as a particularly high tide will see the beach covered and you will be scrambling up cliffs.

Bath Mill Lodge, Somerset

Accomodation at Bath Mill Lodge Retreat is in the form of lodges. The site is very dog friendly, and home to immaculately clean lodges.
Dogs are welcomed in the patio next to the restaurant, and there are pet friendly areas to walk your dog around the site.
Bath Mill Lodge is one of our favourite places to visit with Lola. Coupled with how friendly the site is, the links into Bath City centre are really accessible as well.

Bedruthan Hotel, North Cornwall

Luxury and dog friendly rarely go hand in hand but the Bedruthan Hotel in North Cornwall seems to have got it nailed. Dog lovers flock to this part of the UK for its amazing coastal walks and many dog friendly beaches, The Bedruthan has got all your accommodation needs covered.
The Bedruthan hotel has dedicated pet sitters you can book should the humans need some time out at the gorgeous onsite spa. The hotel has 5 bedrooms available if you’re planning a visit with your dog.
The rooms come fully stocked with a pet blanket, towel and dog bowls for food and water. There’s even a pet shower at the front of the hotel for washing off those sandy paws.
Each dog is an additional £15 per night and includes a doggy welcome pack detailing dog friendly walks, restaurants and pubs nearby.
It is requested that dogs stay off the furniture and are kept on a lead in public areas of the hotel but they are welcome in the Wild Café restaurant, hotel bar and beautiful outdoor terrace, one of the best places to watch the sunset in Cornwall.
Bucklegrove Holiday Park, Somerset

Bucklegrove Holiday Park is primarily a camping and caravan site. There are additional glamping huts and a couple of lodges on site as well.

The site has a lot of space making it the perfect home for taking your dog on holiday with you. We have stayed in one of the dog friendly caravans, and found it to be clean and tidy, with no trace of previous dogs.
The onsite restaurant allows dogs inside and outside on the patio, and there are so many pretty walks nearby to explore with the dog.

Orchard Hideaways, Lake District
Address: Redhills lane Orchard Hideaway, Penrith, CA11 0DT
Orchards Hideaways in the Lake District is a 16 pod camping site. The site overlooks farm land and plenty of countryside.
The site is a great location if you like exploring the countryside and are keen walkers. This would be a nice place to stay to explore more of the Lake District.

Belmount Hall, Lake District
Address: Belmount Hall Outgate, Hawkshead, LA22 0NH
Belmount Hall was once owned by Beatrix Potter, and is located in the heart of the Lake District.
Dogs are welcomed to Belmount Hall, but are not allowed on the beds or to be fed in the bedrooms. With plenty of pubs and walks accessible from here, this would also be a great place to stay to explore the Lake District.
