Sometimes getting away for the weekend is just what the family needs. When money is tight, cheap weekend breaks are called for. Going away for the weekend doesn’t have to cost the earth and there are plenty of cheap weekend breaks with kids to be found as I recently found out.

Cheap Weekend Breaks In A Caravan
When we’re looking for a weekend break in a caravan, we know that we’ll also look for a location by the sea, Booking a long time in advance and last minute can often secure the best prices. I like to do my research well in advance, but I may only book something last minute if the right price comes up.
If I’m looking for cheap weekend breaks with kids then I’ll have a look at Haven sites. A lot of their locations are by the sea, and we have stayed in a fantastic location at Doniford Bay in Somerset.
The beach was the selling point for our break away, and it didn’t matter that the caravan wasn’t luxurious as we took clothes for all weathers and spent loads of time exploring the beach.
Cheap Weekend Breaks In A Lodge
I like looking around for a good price on a weekend in a lodge for weekend getaways. If there is a hot tub then it’s a bonus. I recently stayed in a lovely lodge in Devon with a hot tub. The price was really reasonable when split between everyone staying and made it a great cheap weekend away.
When trying to find good prices for short breaks in a lodge, I’ll often visit the Hoseasons website. I have booked via Hoseasons many times including when we chose to have a weekend in Bath and stayed at Bath Mill Lodge Retreat.
The price was almost too good to pass up, and on these instances I have booked a few months in advance of our short break.
I often find lodge weekend breaks tend to give better prices when they are located off the beaten path a little. These are better for when you have a city break planned and access to a car to drive in and out of the city.
Cheap Weekend Breaks In A Hotel
Many people often discount hotels when booking with kids as they may not want a family room, but often these can provide great value for family weekend breaks. I don’t mind a budget hotel chain or an independent hotel as long as it’s clean, convenient and comfortable.
Using a hotel as a base for a cheap weekend break can be more convenient than a lodge if you’re looking to be more central. Perhaps you’re planning a visit to Legoland Windsor for example using passes, or offers that have been in the papers.
A central hotel chain can often be very convenient and provide a great base for the weekend. We often stay at chains such as Travelodge when looking for a few nights away. They have everything we need and I don’t think we’ve stayed in a grotty one yet.
Big hotel chains will often put out sales on their rooms, and if you book at the right time then you can get a great deal. We have recently secured a night in the Travelodge at Gatwick for just £30 a room which was a bargain.
