If you’re looking for things to do in Crete, then you may be considering visiting a water park in Crete. Acqua Plus Water Park near Heraklion, Crete is the biggest water park in Crete and worthy of a great day out.

When Is Acqua Plus Water Park Open?
You’ll find Acqua Plus Water Park open for the Summer season from May until October each year.
Slides And Rides At Acqua Plus Water Park
Being the largest water park in Crete, you’ll find plenty of slides and atractions to keep you entertained through the day. I’m not a big thrill seeker when it comes to rides, but there was plenty to keep me occupied during our visit.
Extreme slides include the Giants of Terror!, Tsunami, Black Holes, Crazy River and the Kamikazee slides to name a few. More gentle rides include the lazy river and water playground.

This Crete water park boasts 50 different slides, games and facilities to keep the whole family entertained.
Facilities At Acqua Plus Water Park
Once you arrive, the facilities on offer at Acqua Plus are impressive. The first thing that impressed me was the wrist band which was able to record all our daily spends. This meant that we could store valuables in a locker for the day without worrying about the hassle of getting cash or card for purchases.
There are plenty of sunbeds dotted around the park. Cleverly set out in pairs with an umbrella shade in between each pair. They are basic sunbeds and a little tired looking, but you’re not visiting a water park to sit on a sunbed all day so they did the job.

Everywhere we looked there were lifeguards, and the toilets were clean and tidy all through our visit.
You may spot a photographer roaming the park. These photos can be viewed at the gallery near the entrance of the park and purchased.
For lunch, there is a large catering option with plenty of varied menu items. It was laid out in a cafeteria style, but it was nice to see some of the food being cooked fresh and delivered to us after a short wait.
With plenty of undercover shaded seating, this was a great idea for lunch. The prices were reasonable too.

Our Review Of Acqua Plus Water Park
Our visit to Acqua Plus was at the end of May, and the start of their Summer season. The park certainly wasn’t at full capacity during our visit, but there appeared to be plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the rides.
Personally my favourites were the lazy river and the crazy river. The lazy river took around 15 minutes to gently float around in. We thought there was a lack of inflatable tubes, but soon learned that if you go over the bridge into the middle of the lazy river section, there are plenty of tube waiting there.
My only negative during our experience was that the floor got very slippery in places. When we were walking up the slope to the crazy river entrance, this got very slippery and we had to hold on to the hand rails to stay up right.
Who knew spending the day relaxing on water rides could be so tiring! Save some energy for the steps back to the entrance / exit at the end of the day.
