Since having Lola, we have realised just how much she loves her food. Did you know the Labrador breed lacks the gene that tells them they’re full? We are quite careful on what we feed Lola because of this as we want her to be a healthy size and not overweight.
As well as plenty of exercise to keep her fit, we like to make sure she eats good dog food, that has great health benefits. Recently we have been testing some Hill’s Science Plan Large Breed Chicken. This is dried food otherwise known as kibble and I feel like it has become the pied piper of dog food in our home.
Lola is very versatile and we are lucky that she can change dog food brands happily without any upset to her. The moment I opened the bag of food, she was following me around the house, willing to do anything I asked. It was almost as if I were carrying treats with me rather than kibble. She certainly doesn’t behave like that with her usual bag of food.

Started by vet Dr. Mark Morris, who created Hill’s after he treated a dog suffering from kidney disease. Dr. Morris knew that dog foods available at the time contained phosphorus to make them taste better but yet was harmful to kidneys. He began to create a dog food low in salt and high in nutritional value and Hill’s prescription diet was created which then went on to become Hill’s pet food.
Hill’s is marketed as a Premium dog food brand, but I was happy to see it didn’t come with a premium price. The price is very comparable to other leading brands on the market in my opinion which helps in the decisions when choosing what to feed your dog.
