Tall Trees Trail Walk Information
If you’re planning on visiting Blackwater in Hampshire and enjoying this lovely walk, there is some handy information to know before you go.
The New Forest National Park has many FREE car parks for visitors. In peak times, these do get busy, so arriving early is best.
To begin your Tall Trees Walk, the nearest car park is located at Blackwater car park, S042 7QB.
At this car park, you will find facilities including toilets and a picnic area. If Blackwater car park is full, there is alternative car parking at Brock Hill car park, which is also located along the Tall Trees walk.
The Tall Trees walk is a 1.5 mile circular walk in the New Forest. It’s a clearly marked trail which is flat and accessible as well as dog friendly.
Tall Trees Walk Route
From the Blackwater car park, you will leave the car park under the carved oak archway and across the road. It’s important to know that this walk takes you along a path that is close to the road where cars travel.
The route is signposted to your right where you begin your walk. Named the Tall Trees walk due to the amount of firs and redwood trees that were planted way back in the 1850’s. Don’t forget to look up!
Approximately half way around the walk, you will reach Brock Hill car park. At this point, you cross the road and continue the path back towards the starting point.
Along the route there are plenty of information markers and places to stop and admire the view. On a sunny day with the sun streaming through the canopy of trees, it’s a very pleasurable walk.
Did you know that along this trail, you can also spot the biggest trees in the New Forest. The giant sequoia tree is the largest on earth. You may even spot a roe deer. So it’s important to keep your dog on a lead.
