What To Expect When Visiting Go Ape

Miss A has never asked to give our local Go Ape a go. Whilst she is too young and too short to complete the adult version of climbing through the trees in the forest, she is perfect for the junior version. When Tina from The Soup Dragon Says mentioned she was coming down with her family to do Go Ape, she asked if Miss A would like to go as well. I got a resounding “YES” from Miss A, so off we went the other day to be monkeys for a few hours. Well Tina, her family and Miss A did. I stayed firmly on the ground watching the bags and holding the camera!

All kitted out and ready to go in their harnesses, some training completed, it was time for the off. The junior circuit gives participants an hour to go around as many times as you like. Miss A was straight up the steps and ready to go. I took great pleasure walking round from the ground watching her face. I couldn’t see a worried point on any of the obstacles, and I think if I had been up there, I would have had a permanently worried look on my face,

The hour was certainly made the most of, with Miss A making it round the circuits four times, and this included getting caught in traffic jams some of the time.

The zip wires made me laugh. I worked out a good place to stand to get some shots as she came flying down to land on her backside covered in wood chips.

I think she would have continued going around all day if we had let her, but it was time to hand the harness back and collect her certificate and sticker. I have a feeling she’ll attempt the adult version as soon as she is old enough.

I’m so please she enjoyed herself, she certainly didn’t look worried, and I think she will be up the big trees as soon as she can like mine wants too!

Well done to her! She is much braver than me, I would have been safely on the ground with you!
