There is a conversation that happens in our house twice a year that goes along the lines of this:
Me to Hubby – “What would you like for your birthday / Christmas?”
Hubby – “Nothing”
Well of course I can’t get him nothing, I wouldn’t even know where to start shopping for that! Eventually we might barter around to me buying him a new pair of trainers if his current pair need replacing, or perhaps some of his favourite chocolate. None of that is very inventive though and I do like to try to put some effort into the presents I buy people. So what can you buy the man in your life who has everything?
Whilst I opt for footwear as it can be the easy option to replace something that is wearing out, a new belt or nice shirt is a good option. I usually stay clear of buying ties though as Hubby and I don’t agree on tastes there.
When there aren’t any physical products that you can think of to buy, go for an experience such as go karting, or a car driving experience day. Having the chance to drive a fast car is usually welcomed. Perhaps a hot air balloon ride is more his thing?
Is there a new film coming out that your man would like to see? How about a gift card for the cinema, or even better book the tickets and present him with them, along with an invitation to dinner before hand. You could even provide IOU tokens for popcorn and snacks in the cinema.
Organise a day out to one of his favourite places. Whether that’s exploring the countryside or the city, plan a picnic or book a restaurant and take the time out to enjoy a break from the daily grind and celebrate.
Failing everything else and there isn’t a physical product or experience you are able to decide on, a gift card is still OK. My Hubby asks for gift cards from the family when they get fed up of asking him what he wants and he can never give an answer. He saves his up for the latest PS4 game that is coming out later in the year. He assures me he is very happy with this, so after spending many years disliking the idea of giving a gift card, I have now come around to this idea.
What do you buy the man in your life who has everything?
