The Perfect Christmas Present

Every year I am faced with the same questions of what to get everyone for Christmas. My Mum has everything, yet she is very easy to buy for. She has a very well stocked craft room, loves gardening, learning new things, being outdoors, you name it. There is always something I can think of to buy her.

Just before I bought her present this year, I knew it was going to feature around tracing her Dad’s roots. It’s something she’s talked about to me a few times over the years, and she says how she has gotten so far but due to him serving in WWI, there were certain records during that era that burned and she has never been able to find the right documents.

How was I going to present this war record in a fun and inviting way through a gift though?

When Halifax got in touch and asked if they could help to give a little bit extra this Christmas to someone special, I knew exactly what I could do! This could be the perfect Christmas present.

They very kindly sent me an Amazon voucher, and off I went to spend it the week before Christmas.

I knew my gifts were going to focus around Family History, so I did a bit of research and came up with the following gifts for her.

  • A To My Mum from Me memory book.
  • Some Family History Software for her laptop
  • A memory box file that she can store items such as newspaper clippings, old photos etc in.

I was really pleased with my purchases and they arrived in plenty of time for the big day. The war record was to compliment this gift, and it arrived shortly after this package to be opened where it was hidden in the branches of the Christmas Tree.

She loved her gifts and I am wondering if she’ll get the bug to find out more about her past now she has been given a little start.
