With the greenhouse being built last weekend, it’s been time to start planting some seeds. We haven’t really had a frost yet this year, so I’m a little dubious about thinking we may not yet see one. That and a lack of compost in the house, we decided to start off small this year and we’ll expand as the weeks go on.
I let 6yo do all the transferring of compost as she really enjoys getting her hands dirty and looking for worms. We did manage to find a few as she was digging.
Pots ready, we decided to start with beetroot and courgettes. It’ll be my first year planting either of them, but the pots that I found in the greenhouse fit the two veg in terms of how they were to be sowed, so the rest will have to wait a little longer.
The courgettes are sitting on the sunniest windowsil in the house, so I’ll be hoping for some action soon.
