Sports Day at school has been cancelled three times this year before it finally happened yesterday, the day before the end of term. The first date was back in May, a day I could attend, however it rained for a few days before the day so the field was too wet. The it was arranged for a couple of weeks ago, but you guessed it, it rained, so was rearranged for Tuesday this week. Again the weather took a turn for the worse and it was called off. We didn’t think we would get a sports day this year but by some miracle, the school decided to give it one last shot for yesterday, which meant that I could make the whole day and stay for the picnic afterwards. Something I have never been able to do since Miss A started school.
Sports day takes on a non competitive edge of the whole school taking part in teams which range from reception year children to year four children. Each team takes part in different activities and first, second and third teams are announced at the end. Never has Miss A featured in a team that has come first, second or third, but she has great fun going around the field taking part in different activities and the smiles make it worthwhile.
Miss A has grown up so much since her first sports day in 2012. She looked so small there, and I can’t believe she only has one more year at first school before making the transition to middle school.
