6yo is always wanting to play on my Ipad, and loves to find new games to play. This has its advantages from a parental point of view, as I do have a look around and find some educational games to throw into the mix of fun. After all children learn through play don’t they.
I came across Chocolapps through a friend, and have recently been discovering more about them. They are a French publisher of educational apps for Iphone and Ipad. Their apps can be translated into seven different languages, and are aimed at children age 3-10 years.
A lot of the apps are available as a free trial (lite), with the option to buy the full version (discovery) for very reasonable prices for what is included in the app.
We have had the opportunity to review four different apps, two ebooks (Zorro and Peter Pan), and two games (Kid E Cook, and Hide and Seek)
Peter Pan was the shortest of the Ebooks 6yo listened to. The images were clear and the voice was a refreshing change from some of the Americanised apps we have listened to in the past. There is an option at the beginning of the book for parents to read about the levels the story can be read at. There is an option for early readers to follow the highlighted text, or an option for children more confident to read alone.
6yo has never come across the story of Zorro before opening this ebook. She was captured by the story, and this one seemed to go on for a very long time. Plenty of value for money from a parental point of view. As with Peter Pan, there is the option to follow the highlighted text, or to read alone.
Kid-e-cook is a game based on cooking skills. I’m sure most people will have come across a game like this at some point. Whilst this isn’t the most original app I have ever seen, the gameplay was simple and easy, with plenty of playability.
Hide and Seek is based on a hidden object game. There are a variety of different scenes in the game with plenty of objects to find. The first screen, you only have to find a couple of items, and then once they have been spotted, more appear in the bottom toolbar to be found.
6yo thought this game was really good, though she struggled to find some of the people and objects. Even I had to hunt for a little while for some of them. This game is really good for concentration.
The apps themselves aren’t that expensive in the first place, but we have four two be given away to two readers. By entering the rafflecopter below, you have the chance to win
