I remember when I was growing up, my Mum used her kitchen scales almost every day. I don’t remember them being very pretty in design though, more functional than anything else. I didn’t realise the design of kitchen scales had become so appealing until I saw the Ozeri Epicurean digital kitchen scales.
A mirrored effect base with a glass plate and bright digital readings, these scales look great in my kitchen, I almost don’t want to store them away in the cupboard but I have to for space purposes.
The scales are able to weigh measures up to 5kg in weight which is ample for every day kitchen use. The weighing plate is around the size of a side plate which works well for a lot of plates, but large kitchen bowls may prove slightly too big for the plate area. I love the bright green digital readings, however I would have liked to have seem ml as a weighing option. The scales only offer grams and ozs.
A good plus point for the scales is the fact they use AAA batteries rather than more expensive disc shaped batteries that all my previous kitchen scales have used. I find AAA batteries a lot easier to replace quickly as we often have spares in the house.
To save the battery power, the scales will turn off after two minutes without use which is good as I can often become side tracked in the kitchen especially when reading a new recipe.
The scales are well priced in the market at £19.95, and I think that because of their design and appeal they make a great gift idea that wouldn’t be snubbed because of its practicality.
