When Magformers got in touch to see if we wanted to review one of their sets, I immediately thought that Miss A may be a little old for the play set. However as I researched it, I saw the potential for people of all ages to be able to enjoy the set so I accepted the offer.
I’m so glad I did, as you will read and see, the construction set doesn’t box anyone in to enjoying the set regardless of age or gender. I have seen Hubby putting the pieces together and I will admit to enjoying creating different shapes and experimenting with the set when Miss A lets me.

We were sent the Magformers Wow set which retails for £29.99 and contains 16 pieces of magnetic shapes in different colours and two wheel bases. The set has the ability to create 20 different cars, 8 different planar figures and 11 different play patterns with the Magformers templates provided. Of course you can then use your imagination to create anything you want to with the shapes provided.
Each piece has a magnet on each side and is brightly coloured which does attract young children. The pieces do gel together very well and we found the magnets to be quite strong. Also included in the set are some template cards to help you create items such as the spaceship pictured above, but imagination is a great thing in children and I love to encourage creativity to see what Miss A will come up with herself.
We enjoyed making some of the cars, tractors etc with the wheel bases provided, but equally making boxes, houses and shapes are just as much fun. I thought the set was very well made, and whilst it may be a little expensive for what you get, the quality is definitely there and if you were going to expand on the set and buy others, then I think Magformers has the ability to stay as a toy that’s played with for years which then makes it great value for money.
We have been very impressed with Magformers, take a look at Miss A playing with the pieces in our video.
Disclosure – we received the set free of charge but all opinions are our own
