I can’t quite believe Lola is going to be a whole year old next month. I’m honestly not sure where the time has gone. After her behaviour
We were given this bed for her when she was a puppy, and despite her being far too big for it, and being bought a new bed, she still gets into it every day. We can’t see how she is comfortable, but she must be other wise she wouldn’t use it. She does get into some funny positions like this one, and often we’ll find her head flopping out the side.
We’ve been enjoying some lovely walks in the forest since the weather has started to warm up, and it’s been really good to see Miss A’s bond with Lola grow. Lola will chase after Miss A on her bike and then when Miss A stops, so will Lola. They wait for me and then they’re off again!
The forest is great, but we’re wondering whether Lola drank some dirty water, or picked up something nasty as she was being sick for five or six days last week. It resulted in two trips to the vet where were were given antibiotics and tummy settler tablets, and she had a temperature. You wouldn’t have known it to look at her as she still had bundles of energy, but her tummy must have been sore. She’s been on a diet of chicken and rice for a week now, and today is the day kibble is being introduced back into her diet, so fingers crossed it all stays where it should.
She’s been reluctant to drink since she was poorly which is another challenge in itself as we didn’t want her to become dehydrated. We tried giving her water in a plastic bowl, metal bowl, a bucket from the garden. We even tried her with bottled water and that seemed to work for a while. I was worried we were going to have a fussy dog for a moment who was going to be spoiled with bottled water, but when that stopped working, we tried small blocks of ice and that has done the trick for now. That and adding water to her food and she’s happy.
I going to have to start thinking of ways to celebrate her birthday next month.
