There are so many places to eat in Epcot, it’s difficult to know where to choose. We happened upon the Liberty Inn in the American Pavilion as it was nearing lunch time as we were passing the pavilion, and the menu held a special item for Miss A.
Miss A’s favourite food is prawns, she would eat them every day if she could, so when we realised there was a place within Disney World that was able to offer shrimp on the children’s menu, we all knew it would be a great choice for us. It’s also a welcome change from having to choose a hot dog or chicken nuggets.
I had actually researched the Liberty Inn’s menu before we travelled but had forgotten where it was whilst we were there, so I was really pleased to have stumbled onto the jackpot as it were when we were visiting Epcot.
The restaurant is a quick service restaurant and you aren’t able to make a reservation to be able to eat here. You won’t have any trouble finding a table however as it’s a lovely large and airy restaurant with American theming.
I was drawn to the menu choices that were including strip steak as well as shrimp and you favourites such as hot dog, chicken and salads. I immediately knew I was having the strip steak as it presented amazing value on the quick service dining plan with a bottle of water and a dessert for one credit. (as of 2017, desserts are no longer given as part of your quick service meal, however you gain an extra snack credit per day). I was also able to have an injection of vegetables, something that my body was telling me I was lacking as we were into Day 5 of our trip.
My plate was full, including a generous piece of steak with a really nice flavoured butter on the top, fries and broccoli. I knew I was going to enjoy my meal as soon as I saw it. It was just a little difficult eating steak with a plastic knife but we got around it easily enough.
Miss A was really pleased with her shrimp (there were more on the plate but she was too quick for me). I would probably have liked to see some vegetables on her plate as well, but we opted for a fruit bag for dessert so it’s a different way of sneaking in something healthy into her meal.
Dessert for us was a rocky road mousse brownie, a dessert which I almost couldn’t manage after the generous steak. I say almost because I did manage to enjoy it. Not quite a brownie, not quite a mousse but with lovely rocky road additions. A dessert I hadn’t seen on other quick service menus and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
The Liberty Inn is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a quick service that can offer you something a little different. We’ll definitely visit again.
