What do you do when the TV advertising takes over and tells your children they want every toy on the market this Christmas? When said children say “Id like that Mummy”, and your response is something similar to “Well you’d better ask Santa then”.
Last year we were really late in writing our letter to Santa for a few reasons, so this year, I have been suggesting that 6yo write her list earlier.
Last weekend, she got the big book of dreams down from the shelf and started to look through it with her scissors and selotape.
Remember my BARGAIN Lego set I mentioned that we had bought after the barrage of “I want this” from seeing the adverts? It’s not on her list!
That’s OK, so I thought I would encourage the fact that it had been missed off.
“No I don’t really want it, thanks Mummy”
Mummy runs away crying (not really but you get the gist of the colour draining from my face and trying not to cry). I’ve got six weeks to change her mind, or I’ll make it myself!
Conclusion – There are too many adverts on TV. 6yo doesn’t know what she wants as she wants everything she sees because she’s a child. Must restrict TV usage!
