Miss A and I enjoy spending time at home as much as we enjoy getting out and about. During the Easter holidays, we’ve enjoyed a trip to the cinema together, so we decided to spend some time at home as well without even having to worry about getting out of our pyjamas if we didn’t want to.
Spending time together doesn’t have to cost any money which is a bonus, and there are plenty of ideas and activities all around the house that you can do together if you just take a look around you.
Miss A and I decided to try out some of the popcorn we had been sent a couple of weeks ago. It was the perfect time to try out some new flavours such as sweet and salt together which is interesting as Miss A prefers salted popcorn and I prefer sweet. Chilli and lemon, coconut toffee and fruits of the forest favours, all set to entice us into trying them. My favourite was the sweet and salted together, and Miss A loved the coconut toffee.
I might have to admit to wearing pyjamas whilst we picked some of our favourite films to watch together. Well I saw our favourite, they were really Miss A’s favourites as I did sit through a Horrid Henry DVD, and Matilda (which I’ll admit to loving). Our pyjama outfits were finished off with matching comfy socks which we may or may not have been acting out silly little stories with our feet.
The average week in our house is usually really busy as I’m sure is the same for most people. Sitting down and not actually asking questions about how Miss A’s day was to gain a specific answer meant we talked about a lot of unimportant things and had a lovely chat. I learnt more about her average school day during five minutes than I do by asking the question at the end of a school day in term time.
In the middle of the film, the door bell rang and we received our next craft box from Bakerross which pleased Miss A (although not me as I was wearing my pyjamas). She can’t wait to get stuck into to her new crafts.
How do you spend time with your children?
