If there is one set of books that Miss A doesn’t tire of reading, it’s anything that features Horrid Henry. When we were asked if we would like to review the latest Horrid Henry DVD – Horrid Henry Day Of The Dinosaur which comes in a double pack with Horrid Henry Rocking The World, Miss A jumped at the chance.
The DVD features six popular Horrid Henry stories each lasting around ten minutes in length including:-
- Horrid Henry and the Day of the Dinosaur
- Horrid Henry and the Green Machine
- Horrid Henry and the Weird Werewolf
- Horrid Henry and the Alien Invasion
- Horrid Henry and the Perfect Plant
- Horrid Henry and the Zombie Hamster
Miss A’s favourite story was Horrid Henry and the Perfect plant because when Henry and Peter were playing at being gardeners, Henry got tired so he had a nap. He started dreaming that Peter had a venus fly trap that grew really big and tried to eat Henry, but every time Peter arrived the plant returned to it’s normal size.
Henry’s hamster ran away in Horrid Henry and the Zombie Hamster and every day Henry would look at a picture of his hamster and wonder if he was coming back. It turns out the hamster was hiding in the cabbage patch in the garden. It would appear there was a happy ending to Henry losing his hamster.
Moody Margaret starts being nice to Henry in the Alien Invasion. That can’t be right so it must mean that she has been taken over by aliens, there can be no other explanation, can there?
When there is a full moon, werewolves come out to play. When Peter is worried about having hairy hands, could werewolves be involved?
When the family decide to be kinder to the environment and go “green”, Henry thinks he’ll help the family’s wind tunnel by eating a lot of baked beans.
With the bonus DVD of Horrid Henry Rocking the World, means you get 12 episodes for just £6. This is a bargain for any Horrid Henry fan. As a parent, I find the episodes are just the right length to not worry about too much screen time, and it’s easy to call and end to screen time knowing that it’s a ten minute warning rather than anything longer if you’re bargaining with watching to the end of an episode.
There’s always plenty of laughter and giggles that appear when Miss A is watching Horrid Henry and it’s great for her to compare to the books she reads as well.
Horrid Henry and the Day of the Dinosaur double DVD pack is released on Monday 25th May 2015 by Abbey Home Media.
