Our garden has been neglected for far too long. We have never really done anything with it since we moved in apart from new fencing and attempting to level out the lawn a bit. We have had the same handed down barbecue and gifted plastic garden furniture since we moved in 9 years ago, so it’s time this year to get the garden ready for Summer.
We are going to be spending some time removing the decking that is rotting and looking very shabby first of all. We’re not sure what we’re going to find underneath it so we may be lucky that there is a patio there in decent condition, or we may be having to get a new patio laid quite quickly.
Our shed was rotten when we moved in all those years ago, and when we took it down we only replaced it with a small storage shed. This has worked out really well and saved some space, but we do need to get another to sit beside it for bits and pieces.
Going on holiday this spring has meant that I am behind if I want to get some plants into the garden. I don’t have any space in the ground and I think Lola would probably interfere with anything in the ground anyway, so I will have to sort the greenhouse out again and maybe buy some plants rather than seeds. That’s not cheating is it?
We have learnt the hard way when it comes to covering up the garden furniture so our new set will have covers to protect it through the Winter months. The same applies to the new barbecue when we get it as well.
How will you get your garden ready for Summer?
