When Miss A was born, the need for us to be a two car family increased with circumstances surrounding our home and job lives. I knew I needed a reliable car and it had to have four doors to be able to get access to the back seats quickly. I was lucky enough to get a good deal on that car, the car I am still driving now eight years later. I bought my car almost from new and she has fared me well despite getting on in years now.
My credit score is good so I don’t worry too much about getting a car on finance and paying it off, but then it’s a different story if you’re in a position to NEED a new car and you’re worried about getting car finance if you have poor credit.
I do dither between situations almost weekly as to what to do with my car and whether I should think about getting a car on finance. I know the sensible decision would be to keep driving her until I can’t any longer and then make the next decision. After all if I don’t spend money on a new car then I can probably put that money towards Disney holidays in the future, but I do look wistfully at a particular car garage that I pass often.
I am organised enough with my finances to allocate the monthly payments into our household budget, appreciating that getting car finance isn’t a decision to be made lightly and will have an impact on our monthly outgoings. What do you normally do when it’s time to buy a new car?
