Welcome to my new Disney interview series – For The Love Of Disney. Drop in and see what other people love about visiting Disney parks. I’m starting the series off by answering some questions to share some of my Disney memories.
When was your first visit to a Disney park? Which one?
Our first visit was in July 2014 to Walt Disney World. I had always wanted to visit one day, but life just kept getting in the way. In 2013 plans were made and it became a reality for us. I’m not sure I could believe it until we were actually there, and I remember walking around thinking I was in a dream for a lot of it.
How many times have you been to Disney parks?
We have been lucky enough to visit Walt Disney World three times, and have a fourth visit planned for 2019. I would love to visit the other Disney parks around the world in the future as well.
What is your favourite Disney park and why?
Magic Kingdom took a place in my heart when we visited for the first time in 2014, and now it’s the park that is definitely my favourite park out of all at Walt Disney World.
There is so much to see and do for everyone in Magic Kingdom whatever your age and ability. You don’t have to love fast rides or be a child to enjoy meeting the characters either.
Is there a memory that stands out in your mind from a Disney trip?
We have so many amazing memories, but one that stands out was an amazing piece of Disney magic when we were gifted a speciality fireworks cruise in 2017 to watch Happily Ever After fireworks from a boat in the middle of Bay Lake. That was magical!
If money was no object which Disney hotel would you like to stay in and why?
In 2016, we toured some of the resorts, and the one that just stood out to me was the Grand Floridian. I know a lot of people would say that if they could pick any resort to stay in, but the smell is just something else.
Can you imagine looking out of your window and watching the fireworks at the end of the evening. Perfection.
What was your favourite food eaten on a Disney holiday?
There are so many amazing food and drinks to try at Disney parks. The main one that stands out to me is the Dole Whip float, a mix of pineapple juice and dole ice cream. It’s so refreshing on a hot sunny day in the parks and delicious too.
What is your favourite ride / attraction and why?
I love the dwarfs and they are definitely on my bucket list to meet one day, but the ride is a great introduction to Disney roller coasters, and is definitely my favourite ride in Walt Disney World to date. Judging by the queues for the standby line for this ride, I’m not the only one to have this opinion.
What is your favourite show at Disney and why?
Seeing the Lion King in London a few years ago, I was excited to see there was a Disney version in Animal Kingdom. The show is out of this world and well worth watching, the quality of the dancers and characters is top notch.
Who is your favourite Disney character and why?
My heart definitely lays with Mickey Mouse because without him we wouldn’t have Disney as we know it today. My favourite princess is Belle and my favourite villain is Malificent. The characters at Disney are great fun and you can spend ages interacting with them during character meet and greets or character meals.
I’m not averse to waving and shouting hello to characters during parades and when they wave back at me, I feel as thought I’ve won the lottery.
If you had one tip for a first time visitor to a Disney park what would it be?
The best piece of advice I was given before my first trip to Walt Disney World was to enjoy what you’re doing and don’t worry about what you’re missing. It’s so true, you can’t do everything and see everything no matter how hard you plan, but don’t spend the time wishing you had done it and not enjoy the magic of what you’re doing.
