As we’re nearing the end of the first month being back to school, both 7yo and I are finding ourselves fitting into a new routine. There are no more rushed days of after school clubs to deal with so far this term, as I now pick 7yo up from school every day. We do have to fit in more homework though as she goes into Key Stage 2, and we find ourselves with a lot more to do at the end of each school day compared to before. We’ve also got the puppy to consider and her afternoon walks if she needs one before it gets dark.
7yo is very helpful these days when it comes to laying the table, and getting her own drinks now she can reach the taps at the sink. I’ll have her washing up soon!
A quick dinner doesn’t need to be food that’s uninspiring as I’ve learnt very quickly when browsing Birds Eye’s range of meal ideas. A chicken nugget isn’t something we serve with chips very often in this house, instead we mix it up in a tortilla wrap and serve with salad for tasty wraps. Southern fried chicken pieces add a great kick to pasta, peas and mayonnaise. All the flavours mix together especially when the chicken is sliced into strips.
When I don’t have any of my own inspiration, then Birds Eye have done it for me with their Inspirations range. A little like a chicken kiev, but we tried some piri piri sauce filled breaded chicken pieces. They were gorgeous as a change and not something I normally would make.
Who says dinner time has to be boring? Now where can I find child sized washing up gloves?
