Miss A’s school has a reward system each week where the children strive for “the pot of gold” which means they get mentioned in assembly and get to choose an activity to complete of their choice on a Friday afternoon.
Now, Miss A has been striving for this pot of gold reward since she started school a couple of years ago, and she’s never quite made it. She’s got close, but never achieved that illusive reward.
On Friday when she came out of school, the beam on her face was amazing. Instead of “Hi Mum” I got “I got on the pot of gold”
I was so proud of her, and you could tell she was really proud of herself too. She didn’t care that she had the activity choice, she was pleased that she was surprised in assembly as she didn’t know she had made it to the pot of gold.
All that evening she kept telling us how she was so proud of herself. We combined the good news with a visit from Granny and a trip out for dinner so she had an extra reward. There was also a nicely timed package that arrived late Friday afternoon which happened to hold review items for her, so that was a triple bonus for her.
The day before she also received her certificate in assembly for completing the summer reading challenge. Something she wouldn’t have even considered the year before, so I was very proud of her for sticking to it through the summer.
Two certificates in one week. Well done Miss A.
